Elisabeth Moss, the award-winning actress best known for playing copywriter Peggy Olson on AMC's 'Mad Men', remains coy on whether she is joining the cast of True Detective Season 2. Speculation is mounting that Moss will line-up with Colin Farrell, Taylor Kitsch and Vince Vaughn in Nic Pizzolatto's new season, though the actress wouldn't commit during an interview this week.

Moss called True Detective a "fantastic show" and waxed lyrical about HBO's output in recent years, saying she has been "a fan of HBO since the get-go" and has "seen everything" on the network.

According to a report from The Wrap earlier this week, the second season of the mystery drama will follow the death of Ben Caspar, a corrupt city manager in a fictional Californian city. He's found brutally murdered amid a huge transportation deal that would change freeway gridlock in the state. Three law enforcement officers from different cities and branches of the government are tasked with finding out the identity of the murderer, though they soon discover that the investigation has darker implications than initially thought.

Moss is tipped to play the small-town cop Ani Bezzerides - a no nonsense sheriff whose troubled upbringing has driven her to gambling and alcohol.

Irish actor Colin Farrell is close to agreeing to play Ray Velcoro, a cop who's been damaged by years of turmoil in both his personal and professional lives, while relative newcomer Taylor Kitsch will likely play Paul Woodrugh, a handsome military veteran.

Vince Vaughn is close to agreeing to play the chief antagonist.

Elisabeth Moss is currently promoting her new indie film The One I Love, set for limited release August 22, 2014.
