Ella Henderson, the British singer who somehow didn't win the 2012 series of X-Factor, is on course to debut at No.1 on the Official Singles Chart this Sunday with her first record 'Ghost'. Henderson teamed up with OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder to co-write the track which had shifted 78,000 copies as of midnight on Tuesday (June 10, 2014).

Ghost - set to become one of the fastest selling singles of the year so far - is taken from Henderson's upcoming album Chapter One, which will be released later this year through Simon Cowell's record label, Syco.

Ed Sheeran is likely to slide one place to No.2 with 'Sing' while Dutch DJ Tiesto is on track for his highest charting single ever with Wasted Ft Matthew Koma. The Top 5 will be completed by Sam Smith's Stay With Me and Little Mix's Salute.

During a recent interview with Digital Spy, Henderson spoke at length on the influence that Cowell had on her debut album.

"Simon has been so on board and supportive with everything," she said, "He kind of left me to do my own thing for a while and was like, 'When you're ready for me, that's when I'll hear it.' When I got my best seven or eight songs together - and I had to really get it down from 40 to 50 songs - I sent them away to him and he got back straight away and he loved it.

"It was so great because I want Simon to believe in my body of work and not just be someone under his label that he didn't have the belief in to go with it. He was saying the other day that he's in love with the album and he can't wait for the world to hear it."

Ella Henderson's debut single 'Ghost' is out in the UK on June 8.
