Actress Ellen Barkin has won a $4.4 million (£2.75 million) pay out from her ex-husband Ron Perelman after she accused him of reneging on a promise to invest in her production company.
The Ocean's Thirteen star, 55, launched Applehead Pictures with her brother, George Barkin, in November 2005 and Perelman, the chairman of cosmetics giant Revlon Inc., agreed to make four investments per year in 2006 and 2007 to his then-wife's company.
The couple split in 2006 and Perelman's payments ceased, prompting Barkin to file suit for breach of contract in 2007.
Under the terms of their agreement, billionaire Perelman was expected to pour a total of $3.4 million (£2.13 million) into the firm.
New York State Supreme Court Justice Debra James ruled in Barkin's favour on 21 December (09) and made the decision public on Friday (08Jan10).
James ordered Perelman to hand over the $3.4 million (£2.13 million) investment plus nine per cent interest dating to 1 January, 2007, amounting to more than $900,000 (£562,500).
Perelman countersued the Barkin siblings in response to the 2007 lawsuit, accusing the pair of misappropriating funds to finance the launch of another company.
That legal action continues.
