Emilia Clarke Peter Dinklage

There's no denying the incredible cultural impact HBO fantasy series 'Game Of Thrones' has had over the six seasons that have aired to-date. Based on the incomplete novel series 'A Song of Ice and Fire' by George R. R. Martin, the show tells the story of a group of self-proclaimed leaders of various sections in the fictional land of Westeros and the Seven Kingdoms (and beyond), all vying for control of the entire nation and the Iron Throne that resides in King's Landing.

Emilia Clarke Loved Smiling For Change In Me Before You

Emilia Clarke

She admits that this character is much more like her than the Mother of Dragons, and not just because she lives in London. She first read Jojo Moyes bestselling novel Me Before You while she was shooting Terminator Genisys. "I was crying into my grenade launcher," she laughs. And knowing that Moyes was working on a screenplay, she adds, "I was three pages in before I was screaming yes!"

Emilia Clarke at the Me Before You premiere

Despite the story's emotional kick, the film has a romantic-comedy tone to it. So spending time on set was a lot of fun. "It was so joyful and funny," Clarke says enthusiastically. "I got to do all the things I always wanted to do. The director was like, 'Do it! More! More!' I'm like, 'Yes! I get to really crack people up!' Everything I'm known for on-screen is so different from who I am. But with this I could just be myself. So it was not very much acting really. The other stuff's acting."

Me Before You Review

OK

With a story that links together every cliche from the weepy chick-flick library, this movie uses its doomed romance premise to reduce every woman in the audience into floods of tears. Adapted by author Jojo Moyes from her bestselling novel, the movie will work its trickery on its target audience, and it will just about keep others interested, thanks to engaging central performances by Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin.

It's set in a picture-perfect British village located next to the ruins of a picturesque castle, where the quirky Louisa (Clarke) has just lost her job as a waitress in a tearoom. But her parents (Brendan Coyle and Samantha Spiro) need her income to make ends meet, so she takes a job with the village's most prominent couple (Janet McTeer and Charles Dance), caring for their son Will (Claflin), who was a high-flying banker until he was hit by a motorbike and paralysed. Working alongside Will's nurse Nathan (Stephen Peacocke), Louisa struggles to connect with the relentlessly surly Will, who believes that there's no point with going on with his life. But Louisa is determined to help him find some hope.

Everything that happens on the way to the unnerving conclusion is deeply predictable, because we've seen it all in movies from Bridget Jones to The Fault in Our Stars. Even the gently wacky romance feels oddly by-the-book, shifting from interested sideways glances to another smiley montage sequence to contrived comedy and gloomy drama. Thankfully, Clarke and Claflin breathe life into these characters, adding personality details and a spark of chemistry that helps the audience feel the connection developing between Louisa and Will. Of the supporting cast, only Peacocke manages to give his character a sense that he has a life off the screen. And it's nice to see Downton Abbey's Coyle against type.

Emilia Clarke Says Women In Hollywood Are Still Treated Differently

Emilia Clarke

‘Game of Thrones’ star Emilia Clarke has hit out at Hollywood’s sexism asking: “why are they treating me differently because I've got a pair of tits?” The 29-year-old currently stars in romantic drama Me Before You which, unusually for a Hollywood film, has a female director, female writer and three female producers.

Emilia ClarkeEmilia Clarke has said women are still treated differently in Hollywood.

Speaking to Harper's Bazaar, in an interview conducted by the film’s writer Jojo Moyes, Clarke said: 'I'm normally surrounded by dudes. Doing Me Before You meant I didn't have to be continually proving myself in a man's world, having to try and force people to listen to me.”

‘Game of Thrones’ star Emilia Clarke has made it clear that she wants to see more male nudity on the HBO show and she’s not giving up yet. A New Trailer Brings More Clues For 'Game Of Thrones' Season 6

Game Of Thrones Kit Harington Emilia Clarke Peter Dinklage

Waiting for 'Game Of Thrones' season 6 to arrive is emotional turmoil for fans. First they had to go through the grief of Jon Snow's death, then speculation that he's actually still alive (or, at least, coming back to life), then Kit Harington and his co-stars' insistences that he's very much dead, and now this; a string of mysterious moments in a new trailer that could spell that it isn't the end for Snow after all.

Isaac Hempstead Wright and Max von Sydow in Game of ThronesBran Stark is having visions

What new clues have added to the possibility that Jon Snow (Kit Harington) will be returning to life? First off, we see Davos (Liam Cunningham) wielding Snow's sword as he prepares to defend his corpse alongside the Night's Watch against Alliser Thorne (Owen Teale), whose cronies are battering down the door. It's possible that Davos and co. are trying to stop Thorne and his men burning Snow's body (which they might do to ensure he doesn't become a White Walker), but why would they need to do that if he was really dead? Of course, it could be a dignity thing.

Game Of Thrones Kit Harington Isaac Hempstead-Wright Peter Dinklage Emilia Clarke Lena Headey

It's an exciting day for 'Game Of Thrones' fans because HBO have just unveiled some new images from the upcoming season 6 which have already got the cogs in our minds working. They don't really confirm an awful lot about what to expect from the next season, but it certainly teases a few ideas.

Isaac Hempsted-Wright and Max von Sydow in Game Of ThronesBran Stark is back and accompanied by the Three-Eyed Raven

First of all it has to be said that there are no new images of Jon Snow (Kit Harington) since that ambiguous blood-stained face picture, but there are more of his younger brother Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) who we haven't seen for a whole season, not since the Season 4 finale 'The Children'. He looks like his standing up too, contrary to what he was told by the Three-Eyed Raven that he wouldn't be able to walk again and that he'd only be able to fly. He's actually accompanied by the Three-Eyed Raven too, played by new actor Max von Sydow.

Game Of Thrones’ star Emilia Clarke has promised that the sixth season of the medieval fantasy drama will be bigger and more exciting than ever before, but revealed that filming it “legitimately almost killed” the cast and crew.

The HBO series will be returning at the end of April, with Clarke starring once again as Daenerys ‘Mother of Dragons’ Targaryen, in the next adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s series of epic novels. The plotlines are probably the most closely guarded secret in the entertainment industry at the moment, particularly as the timeline will overtake where Martin has actually gotten to with his books.

Jason Mamoa, Kit Harington: The Stars Created By 'Game Of Thrones'

Kit Harington Emilia Clarke Sophie Turner

Game of Thrones is, without a doubt, the biggest show on television. It’s become known as the show where British actors go to die... quite literally - most stars of the show are killed off after just a few appearances! In the few years that it’s been running it’s been packed with some of the biggest names from the business, Sean Bean, Charles Dance... Jerome from Robson and Jerome (to name just a few).

Game of Thrones Future Stars Jason Mamoa, pictured with wife Lisa Bonet, at the premiere of Divergent

The show has also kickstarted a few budding careers and catapulted some actors into the limelight. For example, Hawaiian-born Jason Mamoa who played Khal Drogo in the first season of the show has just been cast as Aquaman in the upcoming Justice League films. Despite working on Stargate: Atlantis and appearing as Conan in 2011 reboot of Conan the Barbarian, starring with Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill in Batman v Superman will definitely be a step in the right direction for Mamoa’s career.

Emilia Clarke Sophie Turner Peter Dinklage Iwan Rheon

Game of Thrones, it’s been too long. But here we are, on the other side of The Mountain and the Viper and Tyrion’s trial by combat. Let’s recap – as usual, ALL OF THE SPOILERS ahead.

Before the main event, we join Gilly at her new job as a serving girl in Mole’s Town, where things are about to go down. “Things” in this case refers to a gang of wildlings, including our old friend Ygritte, who descend on the village and slaughter without mercy. Well, not entirely. At one point Ygritte finds Gilly cowering in a corner with baby Sam. Instead of doing her whole killing shtick, however, Ygritte spares our favorite new mum and moves on on her merry way. Good times.

Game Of Thrones Recap: "Trial By Fire" AKA "The One With All The Sass"

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Emilia Clarke Charles Dance Lena Headey

Everything is out in the open on this week’s episode of Game of Thrones. Do we even need to say this anymore? Spoilers ahead. So many spoilers. The show has been building up to Tyrion’s trial since the Purple Wedding and this episode did not disappoint. Tyrion was steadfast as witness after witness testified against him. Cercei, a mother scorned, was particularly vicious. Even Varys gives witness against the youngest Lannister sibling.

Peter Dinklage
Tyrion Lannister is 1000% done with you, Westeros.

Tyrion, of course, answers the accusations with abundant quantities of sass, matched only by Oberyn Martell, who looks like he could not care less about the trial. Which, given that all he wants is the Lannisters wiped from the face of the earth, isn’t that hard to believe. But sass won’t save the Imp, whom everybody wants to get rid of now – everybody except Jaime that is. With Tyrion’s life in peril, Jaime makes a deal with Father of the Year Tywin – let lil’ bro off the hook and Jaime will give up his King’s Guard vow of celibacy and move somewhere with a nice, unrelated to him noblewoman and make pretty golden-haired babies. It’s a pretty drastic step for Jaime – not only because he will have to move away from Cercei, but also because the new and improved Jaime Lannister is apparently really into keeping his vows.

We’re halfway through Game of Thrones season 4, and last night’s episode, titled “First of His Name” was your standard midway filler. Not much happened, although some important information was revealed and some crucial minor developments took place.

Tommen was crowned King, while flirty Margaery gives him the eye and has a bonding moment with Cersei over monstrous Joff. A brief look-in at Danaerys informs us she’s no closer to retaking the Iron Throne, in fact, with her conquered lands falling into the hands of tyrants, she may be further than ever.

"Game Of Thrones" Recap: "Oathkeeper" Or Everyone Is Obsessed With Swords

Peter Dinklage Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Sophie Turner Emilia Clarke

It’s about that time again folks – time for everyone who hasn’t seen Game of Thrones to turn away their pretty, unspoiled heads and for the rest of us to get into the meat of this week’s episode. To be fair, Oathkeeper had far fewer traumatic and general WTF moments than we’ve been used to recently. It was, however, very heavy on story.

Peter DinklageTyrion seems to have found an ally in his brother.

We see Jaime continue his efforts to rebuild his good name in Westeros and any credibility whatsoever as a character. After he err… raped his sister in last week’s episode (come on, GoT writers, where did that re-write even come from?) his character growth might never be restored, but kudos on the writers for trying. In this episode, Jaime risks getting in some serious Cercei trouble (and possibly being executed) and sends Brienne to find Catelyn Stark’s daughters, so that he can fulfill his oath. He even gives her one of the Valyrian steel swords. She names it Oathkeeper, because metaphorical resonance is everything when you’re fighting for your life.

There are many things to love about “Game of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke. Her dancing, however, is not one of them. Clarke can do more than just act. Apparently, she's (almost) a master dancer as well.

During her audition, the then 23-year-old Clarke was nervous – understandably – but she powered through her scenes and then asked if there was anything else she could do for the audition. And that’s when Thrones co-creator David Benioff suggested that she “do a little dance”. Presumably it was all a joke, but Clarke did it anyway, as she vividly remembers.
“I don’t know how to do it, but I did the Funky Chicken,” Clarke recalled. “And then it kind of morphed into the Robot.”

Game of Thrones got a treat last week, with a rather unusual 15-minute promo of the upcoming fourth season. It featured some things we expected and few surprises (given that it was a promo), but it’s sure to spur on the Thrones speculation ahead of the series 4 premiere on April 6.

The War Wages On In The 'Game Of Thrones' Season 4 Trailer [Watch]

Emilia Clarke Maisie Williams Peter Dinklage

If you thought red weddings, white walkers and Wildling takeovers were exciting last season, wait until you see what's in store for season four of HBO's epic Game of Thrones. On Sunday, 12 January, the first trailer for the new season was aired on HBO, with said trailer going viral soon after.

Emilia Clarke
Emilia Clarke is back as the ass-kicking Daenerys Targaryen

As this is Game of Thrones, don't expect the trailer to be anything short of a major dose of excitement and drama, even if it is just over a minute long. There's dragons, witches and threats of war on all fronts in the trailer, and if that wasn't enough excitement there are some fairly clear hints of what story developments are going to be on offer too, the most obvious one being the marriage of everyone's least favourite incest-born creep King Joffrey to the lovely Margaery Tyrell. We're probably not alone in hoping she turns evil.

'Game Of Thrones' Crowned Most Torrented Show Of 2013

Kit Harington Sean Bean Emilia Clarke Bryan Cranston Vince Gilligan Andrew Lincoln

Game of Thrones is officially the most illegally downloaded series once again, as the hit HBO drama was named the most pirated television series of 2013 by piracy site TorrentFreak. Taking into account the amount of downloads amassed through BitTorrent over the past twelve months, the television adaption of George RR. Martin's stories has taken home the crown of 'Most Torrented Show' for the second year running.

Kit Harington
You know nothing about the illegal distribution of TV programmes, Jon Snow

With 5.9 million downloads via BitTorrent alone, that means that season three of the hit series was watched illegally more times than it was through legal means. The season garnered an average of 5.5 million viewers in the US legally, with most illegal downloads coming in the first week after the show initially aired on HBO, taking the overall tally of the show's illegal viewers past the legal tally. The poll does not take into account downloads from other torrent sites, such as The Pirate Bay or Kickass Torrents, which probably means that the overall figure for illegally downloaded episode is even higher than the report states.

Emilia Clarke Cast As Sarah Connor For 'Terminator' Reboot

Emilia Clarke Arnold Schwarzenegger James Cameron Alan Taylor

That's right, there's going to be a remake of James Cameron's timeless 1984 sci-fi The Terminator. An inevitability considering how popular the series remains to this day, but one that no-one wanted nonetheless. On the bright side, Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clark has just been cast as Sarah Connor, so at least the eye candy has been sorted out with.

The British beauty was announced as the female lead for the Paramount, Skydance and Annapurna-led reboot of the Skynet and cyborg-fighting film series, with Variety being the first to confirm her appointment. The Variety report goes on to state that Clarke tested alongside Brie Larson for the role, but Clarke managed to edge ahead of the 21 Jump Street actress in the screen tests. Supposedly, Margot Robbie was also in contention for the role, but never auditioned.

Dom Hemingway Review

OK

Definitely a film of two halves, this crime comedy kicks off with a spark of witty energy as the title character blusters his way through a series of events with hilariously profane rants. Then the plot kicks in. And from here on, it's a dull slog as we lose all interest in what happens next. It's well-played and stylishly directed, but it feels pointless.

We meet Dom Hemingway (Law) just before he gets out of prison after serving 12 years for refusing to rat out his boss Ivan (Bichir), a Russian mobster now living the high life on the French Riviera. So Dom and his sardonic friend Dicky (Grant) travel from London to see Ivan. After a very rocky start caused by Dom's loose tongue, they're in the middle of wildly hedonistic holiday when things take a sudden turn. Dom finds himself penniless back in England, turning to his daughter Evelyn (Clarke) for help. When she refuses to talk to him, he seeks work from a young thug (Hunter).

Up until the mid-point plot-shift, the film is a lot of fun, mainly because Dom's tirades are riotously rude but still have a literary lilt to them. This man clearly has no filter on what he says or does, so he goes from one spot of trouble to another. Law plays him with gusto, winning us over in the comical first half then struggling to keep even a hint of sympathy in the much mopier drama that follows. Frankly, we begin to think that Dom is finally getting what he deserves; we certainly don't want him to come out on top.

Dom Hemingway Trailer

Dom Hemingway has recently completed a 12-year stint in prison for his criminal exploits as a talented safecracker but, needless to say, he is anything but reformed. On his release, he meets up with his balding, glove-wearing partner Dickie who helps him track down his old gangster boss Mr. Fontaine to retrieve a large sum of money owed to him for keeping his silence on his criminal past for so long. The first thing he does when he gets hold of it? He throws a massive, alcohol-fuelled, women-laden party to celebrate his freedom, but with dire consequences. When he wakes up outside in the worst state he's been in for a while, he realises that his money has completely disappeared, but that's not the only thing he has to seek out. His daughter Evelyn is now a mother, and he's determined to re-build a relationship and get to know his grandson. However, getting his life on track proves more difficult than he imagined.

This gritty British crime thriller has been directed and written by Primetime Emming winning Richard Shepard ('The Matador', 'The Hunting Party', 'Oxygen'). It has a wicked humour in all the right places but looks like it could be a pretty touching story too. It is set to be released on November 15th 2013.

Spike Island Review

Weak

There's a terrific blast of nostalgia in this finely crafted film, which will probably make it a hit for Stone Roses fans, but it's so jaggedly edited that the plot is almost impenetrable. Without a real sense of who the characters are, it's very difficult to get involved in their adventure.

It's 1990, and a group of teens are overexcited about the upcoming Stone Roses concert on Spike Island in Widnes. Gary (Tittensor), known as "Tits", is the ostensible leader of the garage band Shadowcaster, along with his best pal Dodge (Mirallegro) and their friends Zippy, Gaz and Penfold (Murphy, Long and Heald). The problem is that they don't have tickets for the event, and Gary plans to meet there with his long-time crush Sally (Clarke). Meanwhile, he's distracted by the fact that his father (Evets) is ill and his mother is annoyed that he's spending all his time with his friends instead of being with her at the hospital.

Along with the various strands of Gary's story, there are also sideplots for several other characters, which diffuses the film away from the central narrative about five guys trying to get into a landmark concert staged by their idols. The film leaps around between all of these storylines without properly settling down, which means none of the relationships ever come to life. For example, we can see that Gary and Dodge have years of camaraderie, although we don't really understand why they're still friends now.

And Breathe: Audience Catches A Break With Game Of Thrones Finale [Recap]

Peter Dinklage Lena Headey Maisie Williams Emilia Clarke Kit Harington

This week on Game of Thrones, viewers were let off easy for the finale – the producers probably realised that we are all still recovering from last week’s episode and the Red Wedding. But there were still a number of plot twists (beware of spoilers ahead.) After witnessing the brutal murders of some of her last remaining family members, Arya Stark got some measure of revenge by stabbing one of Walder Fray’s soldiers, as her captor-turned-companion Sandor "The Hound" Clegane took care of the soldier’s comrades. Obviously, the violence will keep getting worse from here on, but after last week’s episode, Thrones fans seem to be able to stomach anything.

Then we had Jaime Lannister, finally back at King’s Landing and reunited with his twin sister Cersei, while Jon Snow had a reunion of another kind, returning to the night’s watch, after escaping the wrath of his scorned lover, wildling Ygritte. On two opposite sides of the GoT universe, two very different characters continued their journeys. While Bran walked on towards his destination north of the wall – a journey, which still seems rather inexplicable, Daenerys Targeryen continued to build her power through the love of her people and finally freed the slaves of Yunkai. While some rise and others fall, as usual in the game of thrones (which you win or you die, as Robb Stark and co. reminded us last week) something altogether darker and more sinister is brewing north of the wall – the White Walkers and their army of undead.

Of course, we got the occasional quip from Tyrion Lannister (the ever entertaining Peter Dinklage) to lighten the mood, but after recent events, let’s just say that there’s a whole lot of lightening to do.

Gary (aka Tits) and his friends Dodge, Zippy, Little Gaz and Penfold are an ambitious amateur indie band from Manchester with an unshakeable adoration for The Stone Roses. As a once in a lifetime major gig for the legendary group approaches, the friends are determined to watch musical history unfold as they set out to gatecrash the show on Spike Island. Their plan? Break into the venue without tickets and hand over their precious demo tape to the lead singer with the hope that it will shape their musical futures. However, things aren't as easy as they sound with school and girls as constant distractions, and no initial way of getting to the Island. Not to mention the swarming security and high fences they'll have to pass to get in. Their determined mission will no doubt test their friendship and the way they view the future as they are about to face hard facts about life and dreams.

Is It Me? Was It The Oscars Sexism? Seth MacFarlane And Emilia Clarke Split

Seth Macfarlane Emilia Clarke

Seth Macfarlane has split from his girlfriend Emilia Clarke, E!Online reports. Whether or not Emilia was as grossed out Seth’s sexist Oscars hosting japery as the rest of the female race has yet to be confirmed but apparently it was a change in location for the two celebrities that forced the split. Seth, 39 and Emilia, 25 have parted ways and the news was confirmed by a source close to the Family Guy creator and Game of Thrones actress.

“They are no longer dating," a source told E! News. "It was really a location challenge. She has been in Europe shooting Game of Thrones and he is based in California, so it was hard to make it work despite the distance. They have remained friends." The couple’s relationship first became known to the public when they were spotted cosying up together at HBO’s Emmy’s afterparty back in September and now it seems that this will be one of those short-lived, un-dramatic relationships that won’t be remembered for very long at all.

Emilia will shortly be appearing in a Broadway production of Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Seth, presumably, go back to working on Family Guy, after his Oscars-hosting role was poorly received. The biggest offender in his routine was probably the song and dance number that detailed the Hollywood actresses that had dared to bare their flesh, throughout their career. Far from tasteful.

Game Of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke To Appear In Broadway ‘Breakfast At Tiffany’s’

Truman Capote Emilia Clarke Jude Law Richard E. Grant

Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen in HBO’s Game of Thrones, is set to star in a new adaptation of Breakfast at Tiffany's, which will be shown at the Shubert theater in New York City in February 2013. The world premiere will be directed by Sean Mathias, reports USNews.com

"The goal of this version is to return to the original setting of the novella, which is the New York of the Second World War, as well as to resume its tone — still stylish and romantic, yes, but rougher-edged and more candid than people generally remember," Pulitzer Prize-finalist and Tony Award-winning playwright Richard Greenberg said in a statement. The new stage adaption of Truman Capote’s classic 1958 novella will star Emilia Clarke as the eccentric party girl Golightly, a role Audrey Hepburn played in the 1961 movie. A 1966 adaption famously didn’t quite work out; there were a handful of previews but never it officially opened at the Majestic Theatre. The producers of this show will be hoping it actually makes it to the curtain this time. Alan U. Schwartz of The Truman Capote Literary Trust, said in a statement published on Broadwayworld.com , "I am delighted New York audiences will be the first to see this new adaptation of Breakfast at Tiffany's. That (the) story continues to inspire artists and capture imaginations all these years later speaks to the timeless quality of Mr. Capote's unforgettable prose. Mr. Greenberg has beautifully translated everything that is glorious about this story and its characters to the stage."

Clarke is currently filming season 3 of Game of Thrones; the fantasy drama that has won many fans in its first two outings. She will also soon begin filming the UK feature Dom Hemingway opposite Jude Law and Richard E. Grant.
