Actress Emma Watson Took Part In An Onstage Chat With Activist Malala Yousafzai Which Was Broadcast Live In Cinemas Throughout The U.k. On Wednesday (04nov15).
The Harry Potter star has been a vocal supporter of Yousafzai's fight for gender equality, a cause she has become famous for since 2012, when she was shot in the head by Taliban fighters for opposing their ban on girls in schools.
Watson also became known for her feminist campaigning last year (14) when she launched the HeForShe event with United Nations Women, and the pair teamed up in Birmingham, England on Wednesday for a chat as part of the Into Film Festival.
More than 10,000 schoolchildren and teachers attended 80 cinemas across the U.K. to watch the discussion live following a showing of the documentary He Named Me Malala, which details Yousafzai's childhood, Taliban rule in Pakistan, and her new life as an activist living in England.
The pair discussed feminism and equality and the teenager's life, and Watson put questions to her after they were submitted by the students. Footage of the chat is set to be published on Watson's Facebook.com page.
Yousafzai became the youngest person to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize last year (14).
