French President Francois Hollande is leading tributes to Amour star Emmanuelle Riva following her death on Friday (27Jan17).
The veteran actress passed away after losing her battle with cancer, aged 89.
The French leader has released a statement in which he writes the Hiroshima Mon Amour star "created intense emotion in all of the roles she embodied".
She became the oldest Best Actress Oscar nominee in 2012 when she was shortlisted for her role in Michael Haneke's Amour.
Officials at the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences also posted a tribute to Riva online on Saturday (28Jan17).
The tweet thanked the actress "for all that you've given us".
