Estelle (born Estelle Fanta Swaray, 18.1.1980. Previously known as Est'elle) Estelle is a British R&B singer and rapper, whose steady career growth was propelled when she won a Grammy award for her collaboration with Kanye West, 'American Boy'.
Music Career: Estelle's breakthrough single was '1980', released in 2004, followed by 'Free'. As a result of these releases, Estelle won the Best Newcomer MOBO Award and the music videos for both tracks - directed by Andy Hylton - received a great deal of airplay.
Estelle's debut album The 18th Day reached number 35 in the UK music charts. She then went on release a single with the pop band 3SL, named 'Touch Me Tease Me'.
Estelle's career took a step up when, in 2008, she collaborated with Kanye West on 'American Boy'. The track was a number on hit in a number of countries, including the UK, US and Canada. 'American Boy' was also listed at number seven in Rolling Stone magazine's end of year 'Best Of' list.
Following the release of the single, Estelle's net album Shine was released on the HomeSchool label, which is run by John Legend. Shine sold significantly better than its predecessor and reached number six in the UK chart, selling enough copies to earn a Gold certification. Shine was also shortlisted for 2008's Mercury Music Prize but lost out to Elbow's The Seldom Seen Kid.
The following year, Estelle released a track with the rapper Busta Rhymes, entitled 'World Go Round', from his Back on My B.S.
In 2009, Estelle confirmed that she was working with the renowned DJ David Guetta on her next album, to be entitled All of Me. She also made a cameo appearance in the music video for Mr. Hudson's 'Supernova' music video.
In August of that year, Estelle performed 'Good Girls Go Bad' on The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien, as well as co-writing and performing 'Rollacoaster' on Robin Thicke's album Sex Therapy.
In February 2010, Estelle's website aired the premier of her video for 'Freak', featuring Kardinal Offishall.
Charity Work: Estelle was one of the celebrities modeling at Naomi Campbell's Fashion for Relief catwalk show, raising money for victims of the Haiti earthquake disaster.
A tribute to some of our favourite blink-and-you'll-miss-them superstars of the '00s.
Noughties one-hit wonder Sandi Thom recently got her name into the headlines for the first time in nearly a decade last week.
Sadly, it was not for reasons she would have wanted, as her tearful, expletive-strewn rant on Facebook went viral as she attacked radio playlisters for rejecting her new single ‘Earthquake’. Thom, now 35, had a chart-topping single back in 2006 with ‘I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker (With Flowers In My Hair)’, but has struggled to have anywhere near the same success since.

Numerous pop superstars made appearances at the 2014 Billboard Women in Music Luncheon held at Cipriani Wall Street in New York. Among them were 'Frozen' star Idina Menzel and 'All About That Bass' hitmaker Meghan Trainor.
Main star Amanda Seyfried receives a warm greeting from fans and paparazzi as she arrives at a screening for her new movie 'Lovelace' at the Museum of Modern Art in New York where she signs several autographs and poses for photos with fans. She is seen rubbing her eyebrow and apparently smudging her make-up before an assistant rushes over to fix her face.
The Samsung Hope For Children Gala at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City saw appearances from former talk-show security guard and talk show host Steve Wilkos with his wife Rachelle Wilkos, R&B star, Estelle, jazz singer Tony Bennett, 'The View' co-host Sherri Shepherd and NASCAR racer Jimmie Johnson.
Enough about the winners of the Grammy Awards, what we want to know is who won when it came to the fashion parade! Yes, whilst Mumford & Sons might well have taken the evening's top prize, album of the year, their folky style has no place in this piece, the best dressed last night (February 10, 2013) as usual proving to be those who constantly show pedigree when it comes to stepping out of an evening looking glamorous. We'd count Beyonce among those; even when she is putting a foot wrong - like lip-syncing the national anthem - she manages to come out it blooming, so choosing an outift to wear for the Grammy's should be no problem for her. So it proved with the above black and white retro looking number.
Britney Spears has been accused of sabotaging her own act Arin Ray on X Factor by giving the 17-year-old terrible, terrible songs to sing. Ray's godmother Sedatrius David took to Twitter to vent her anger and make the accusations after the Thanksgiving episode this week.
Ray sang Enrique Iglesias' 'Hero' and dedicated the rendition to his brother as a way of thanking him for stepping up to the plate after their parents separated. The performance was pretty average, with Davis tweeting, "Put @ArinRaySings thru so he can do wht he do! Don't let him go home b/c britney doesn't know wht she's doing." According to Digital Spy, she followed the tweets up with a series of further messages concerning Britney's mentoring, saying, "PLEASE vote 4 my godson @ArinRaySings keep him in so he can "be me" b/c Britney Spears has not been good mentor not fair!" The last message read, "@britneyspears u continue 2 sabotage my godson @arinraysings & I do NOT appreciate it. Wtf! These songs! Seriously!" before all three were deleted. Arin has since responded to his grandmother's allegations in a lengthy Twitter post, saying, "I was shocked and very upset that she made such harsh, rude and untrue statements about Britney. I know she felt she was protecting me, however, I didn't need that or ask for that! She was way off and dead wrong. Although I can't take back anything she's said, know I don't agree with anything of it and neither does my FAMILY. Britney is a great person and mentor!"
So is there any truth in the accusations? Well, in the first week, Britney gave young Arin the 1966 Motown hit 'You Keep Me Hangin' On' to sing, so pretty good right? In week two, he sang Estelle's 'American Boy,' so, kind of not a disaster song choice. Week three was Madonna's 'Crazy For You,' so again, not a song stinking of sabotage.
