It's probably not an exaggeration to say that 'Mean Girls' was one of the most important cultural events of the noughties. It's loved by so many people; one major fan being Evan Rachel Wood, who actually turned down the chance to star in it. She had a good reason, but she likely has regrets about it anyway.
Evan Rachel Wood at the season 2 premiere of Westworld
The 30-year-old remembers only too well being approached by Tina Fey for her comedy adaptation of Rosalind Wiseman's 'Queen Bees and Wannabes', but given that she had already signed on for a similar role at the time, she decided against it. It's unclear what role she would have been asked to play if she'd agreed.

The actress, who plays Dolores in the hit show, will be paid as the same as the male protagonists beginning from the third series.
The 'Westworld' and 'Thirteen' star, a survivor of serious sexual assault, was one of three women testifying before Congress this week about new legislation.
‘Westworld’ star Evan Rachel Wood has testified before Congress in the United States about her experiences as the victim of violence and sexual assault, saying that she was “mentally and physically tortured”.
The 30 year old actor was one of three women giving evidence in support of the Sexual Assault Survivors’ Bill of Rights Act, a piece of legislation that she described as a “safety net that may help save someone's life”.
She told the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Wednesday (February 28th) that, while with an ex-partner, she had been subjected to “toxic mental, physical and sexual abuse” which “altered the course of my life” and included “sick rituals of binding me up by my hands and feet”, after which she would be “beaten and told unspeakable things”.
The 29 year old 'Westworld' star opened up about two occasions in which she was raped in the past, during an emotional interview with Rolling Stone.

'Star Wars' creator George Lucas goes a little political in animated jukebox musical 'Strange Magic'.
Set to captivate audiences of all ages, 'Strange Magic' is the enchanting animated comedy from George Lucas, who may have taken a step back from the big budget adventure blockbusters of 'Indiana Jones' and 'Star Wars', but certainly still has a few tricks up his sleeve.
With a hilarious cast featuring Evan Rachel Wood, Kristin Chenoweth and Alan Cumming, 'Strange Magic' sees a fairytale land divided into the magical and the mysterious, with the twain never meeting until one fateful day. Suddenly, there seems to be an impending all out war, with both cultures disturbed by the sight of each other and unwilling to accept each other's differences (doesn't sound like such a fantasy land after all, right?).
In a magical world of fairies and goblins, two worlds live secluded from each other, with neither knowing of the other's existence. But one day, a beastly creature stumbles out of the forest, causing the fairies to question just what lives in the woods. With the two societies meeting for the first time, hostilities emerge, leading to the kidnapping and ransom of one of the fairies. With all-out war on the horizon, to falls to an elite group of heroes to venture where no fairy has gone before, and prove that perhaps the two races aren't as different on the inside as they are on the outside.

Sir Anthony Hopkins tops a stellar cast for the HBO series 'Westworld', produced by J.J Abrams and written by Jonathan Nolan.
Sir Anthony Hopkins has signed on for HBO's television adaptation of the 1973 dystopian movie, Westworld. Michael Crichton's movie was set in an amusement park of the future, populated by life-like cyborgs.
Sir Anthony Hopkins will play Westworld theme park owner Dr Robert Ford in HBO's television reboot of the movie
HBO has officially green-lit the series after a successful pilot episode by Jonathan Nolan (Interstellar), which was co-written by Christopher Nolan and Lisa Joy. Star Wars director JJ Abrams will act as executive producer.
Shia LaBeouf is well-cast in this freewheeling combination of comedy, romance and action. He plays a scruffy guy with no plans and nothing to lose, lost in a strange culture while falling in love with the wrong woman. It's not a particularly original premise, and much of what happens feels wildly improbable, but the characters and situations are so entertaining that we can't help but hold on for the ride.
It opens in Chicago, where Charlie (LaBeouf) watches helplessly as his mother (Melissa Leo) dies in hospital, asking her what he should do next. Then there she is appearing to him, telling him to visit Bucharest. "That's weirdly specific," he replies, but he follows her advice, and on the flight over has another encounter with a dead person. This one asks him to look up his daughter Gabi (Evan Rachel Wood) and give her a message. Of course, Charlie is instantly smitten, but tries to ignore the fact that Gabi's psychopathic husband Nigel (Mads Mikkelsen) looks easily capable of murder. As does the mobster club owner Darko (Til Schweiger) Charlie has a run in with while out on the town with his youth hostel roommates, two chucklehead Brits (Rupert Grint and James Buckley).
As the title suggests, Charlie feels like death is inevitable for him, especially now that he seems to have caught whatever that kid from The Sixth Sense had. LaBeouf gives Charlie just the right mix of hapless loser and quick-thinking resourcefulness, and his chemistry with Wood is tetchy and fun to watch. Meanwhile, the scene-stealing supporting stars Mikkelsen, Schweiger, Grint and Buckley add a terrific mixture of comedy silliness and dark peril. This seems to be director Fredrik Bond's main goal here: to blend genres from grim drama to sweet romance to goofy slapstick to Taken-style action violence.
