Fall Out Boy Offer Apology To Fans For ESPN Overplaying Their Music

Fall Out Boy must be the first musical act to ever apologize for their music being played. The American rock group have said sorry to their fans after ESPN constantly played one of their songs while broadcasting the College Football Playoffs.

Victoria's Secret Recruit Taylor Swift, Fall Out Boy For Annual Fashion Show

Taylor Swift Fall Out Boy A Great Big World Neon Jungle

Taylor Swift is teaming up with Fall Out Boy for a performance at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. There’s a move nobody could have predicted. Typically, the VS show features celebrities, whose careers have peaked during the year, so Swift is an obvious choice on that front, although the gig doesn’t really sound like the demure country starlet’s scene.

Taylor Swift, CMA Awards
Taylor Swift's career has blown up in 2013, most recently winning her a Pinnacle Award at the CMAs.

The fashion show will be broadcast live on CBS on December 10th, THR reports. Swift and Fall Out Boy will all be making their respective VS Fashion Show debuts, although it isn’t clear whether they’ll team up for at least one song together. Both acts are currently touring to promote their albums, with Swift continuing her world tour to support the phenomenally successful RED and FOB touring behind their April release Save Rock And Roll, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Album Chart.

Fall Out Boy Leeds & Reading Festival

Since their brief hiatus, Fall Out Boy have emerged as strong as they ever were. “We’re very excited to be back at Leeds,” explained Wentz ahead of their performance. “It’s fun for us to play; we’ve come here so many different times – we’re just excited to be back." And they had reason to be, their set went down a storm at the legendary Yorkshire music fest, proving that the good old U.K will always have a place in their heart for a spot of Fall Out Boy.

Fall Out Boy Make Triumphant Return, Though Offer No Clues As To Where They're Headed Next

Fall Out Boy

It’s only been three years, but the fervor that greeted Fall Out Boy’s live return has been like they’ve been away a decade or more. Yep, Pete Wentz, Patrick Stump, Joe Trohman and Andy Hurley have told that this isn’t a reunion, because they never split up, they just went on hiatus. But from the nature of their last minute intimate shows – including Los Angeles last night (February 7, 2013) – there’s no denying the fans attitude towards this – they’ve been away, and they’ve been away too long.

MTV reports that at the Roxy venue on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles, the queue to get in for Fall Out Boy’s show snaked back to the horizon, whilst inside some of the band’s old contemporaries like 3OH!3 and Cobra Starship watched on as their friends made a triumphant return. What Fall Out Boy didn’t provide was much of a clue as to where they were going in the future; the set drew from old classics like ‘Dance, Dance’, ‘Sugar We’re Goin’ Down’ and ‘This Ain’t A Scene, It’s An Arms Race’ with only one new song offered.

That new song was the comeback single ‘My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark’, which borrows from a sample and certainly suggests that Fall Out Boy aren’t quite the excitable scamps that first came about in the beginning of the last decade, but are still full of energy and vim nonetheless.

Alicia Keys, Fall Out Boy And More Confirmed For NBA All-Star Weekend

Alicia Keys Ne-Yo John Legend Fall Out Boy Ellie Goulding Phillip Phillips Nick Cannon

Didn't get your fill with the last dose of State-side halftime entertainment, well the NBA All-Star Weekend is here to help, with the show's line-up trying its best to out do Beyonce and co. last Sunday.

Taking place in Houston on Feb. 16-17, the showcase will be an all-star event in more than just b'ball-ability terms. Alicia Keys will be holding down the reigns at the halftime performance, whilst Ne-Yo will be performing before the main event. John Legend will perform the United States national anthem before the game. On the Saturday before, the newly reformed Fall Out Boy will be providing the half-time entertainment, their first live performance sine their 2009 split, whilst Ellie Goulding will play before the game.

The entertainment isn't just resigned to the match schedule though, as the full weekend of entertainment will also see American Idol winner Phillip Phillips performing on Saturday during the day, which will coincide with the time-honoured Skills Challenge, the Three-Point Contest and Slam Dunk Contest — all of which will be presided over by Nick Cannon.

A Week In Music - Eels Back On Form With 'Wonderful, Glorious, Frightened Rabbit Album Uncomfortable Listening, Depeche Mode's Broody New Video

The Eels Frightened Rabbit Funeral For A Friend Quentin Tarantino Depeche Mode Pacific Air Fine Times Fleetwood Mac Nick Cave Paramore Fall Out Boy Primavera Sound Festival

Albums of Note... Mark Oliver Everett (better known as ‘E’) returns as eels, with new album Wonderful, Glorious. It’s a return to the form that we saw from Eels in the ‘90s. In recent years, Eels albums have been a rather bleak affair, as Everett has had to deal with the death of his parents, his sister and his cousin, all in a relatively short space of time. Wonderful, Glorious sees Eels get some of the fight back – literally, in ‘Kinda Fuzzy,’ in which he snarls “don’t mess with me I’m up for a fight.”“this teeth-grit, eyes ahead attitude is something we've come to expect from Eels, and Wonderful, Glorious is at its best when he's at his growliest… By the end you even sense a form of happiness has fallen upon this most maligned performer…"

Frightened Rabbit Pedestrian Verse Album Cover

Frightened Rabbit have parted ways with Brighton indie label Fat Cat and release their third album Pedestrian Verse on Atlantic Records. With most of the album’s tracks having been written around the time of Scott Hutchinson’s relationship breakup, it can make for a pretty uncomfortable listen at times. With a new producer at the helm the band seem to have developed a more free-flowing musical ideal, even if the emotions contained within are high in intensity.“In summary, 'Pedestrian Verse' can perhaps best be described as the sound of Frightened Rabbit doing what they do best. Just how many more fall outs and break-ups Scott Hutchison can through to continue the cycle remains to be seen, but for now this is up there alongside 'The Midnight Organ Fight' as one of the band's finest collections to date.”

Fall Out Boy Fall Back In! Emo Rockers Reunite For Fifth Album

Fall Out Boy

Fall Out Boy are back! But they never went away! The American emo rockers have told fans that their return shouldn’t be considered a reunion because they merely went on hiatus. That’s all by the by though, what really matters is that Pete Wentz et al are back with a new tour and a new album, fifth studio LP Save Rock And Roll.

“When we were kids the only thing that got us through most days was music,” FOB said in a statement, reported by MTV. “It’s why we started Fall Out Boy in the first place.” They’re wasting no time in getting back onto the stage either, the group playing an intimate show in Chicago on Monday night (February 11) before heading to New York the night after and Los Angeles on Thursday, February 14 for two more similarly small-sized shows. “This isn’t a reunion because we never broke up,” the band said in Monday’s statement. “We needed to plug back in and make some music that matters to us. The future of Fall Out Boy starts now.”

The group’s initial run brought them huge success, with three albums breaking the top ten of the US Billboard charts, and 2007’s Infinity On High going to number one. The group have also gone three times platinum. Their last album was Folie a Deux, released in 2008, after which they went on hiatus – until now.

Fans Rejoice As New Fall Out Boy Album Is Announced

Fall Out Boy Pete Wentz

Fall Out Boy have an incredibly strong and loyal set of fans, who follow their movements like hawks, so with the cult band announcing a new album after a lengthy break - which most fans mistook as a break up - there's been some excitement.

The band will release their fifth full-length album, Save Rock And Roll, on May 7, while their comeback single My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light 'Em Up), hit iTunes on Monday. "When we were kids the only thing that got us through most days was music," the band said in a statement announcing the album and tour. "It's why we started Fall Out Boy in the first place. This isn't a reunion because we never broke up. We needed to plug back in and make some music that matters to us. The future of Fall Out Boy starts now. Save Rock And Roll..."

Some fans couldn't quite grasp the meaning of hiatus back when the band announced an indefinite one, so Pete Wentz had to explain to MTV what was going on. "It's weird because, if you look it up in the dictionary, 'hiatus' is a synonym for 'a break.' We're on a break that doesn't have a definite ending. There's no ending date," he said.
