Famke Janssen will reprise her role as Jean Grey in 'The Wolverine'.

The actress will return to the 'X-Men' franchise as the telekinetic superhero with a cameo appearance in the upcoming Hugh Jackman-starring action flick, a new teaser trailer has confirmed.

The six-second clip, which was uploaded to video sharing website Vine by the film's director James Mangold, teases the return of Jean Grey, who was last seen in 2006's 'X-Men: The Last Stand'.

Janssen first played the heroine in 2000's 'X-Men' and 2003 follow-up 'X2'.

The surprise cameo follows in the footsteps of Janssen's fellow original 'X-Men' stars, including Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen, reprising their roles in the upcoming 'X-Men: Days of Future Past', which will be directed by 'X-Men' and 'X2' helmer Bryan Singer.

The actress previously revealed she was ''waiting by the phone'' to hear if she would be asked to return to the franchise.

She said: ''I'm waiting by the phone. It would be very surreal. I would be honoured to be a part of any of these 'X-Men' movies. It would be great.''

'The Wolverine' follows the latest adventures of Hugh Jackman's anti-hero character following the events of 'X-Men: The Last Stand'.

Jackman previously starred in spin-off 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine', a prequel to the original trilogy.
