Singer Fantasia Barrino has been invited to headline a California gay pride festival just months after she was accused of rallying against same-sex marriage online.

Back in January (13), the former American Idol star shocked fans and followers alike when she appeared to be taking a swing at gay marriage during a rant on her Instagram.com page.

She wrote, "I Rise Above It All!!! The World Is Gone Mad. Kids, The Goverment (sic), The church House… Everybody Trying!!!!!!! It’s a lot that going on that the Bible speaks about we should Not be doing. Weed legal in some places, Gay Marriage Legal But Yet Im Judged!!!"

Gay rights activists and fans took aim at her for the post, which she later insisted had been taken out of context by bloggers.

She took to the photo sharing app once again and wrote, "The gay community is one of my largest supporters. I support the gay community as they support me. Bloggers please stop misrepresenting the facts."

And now Barrino is hoping to take the stage in Long Beach, California for the city's 30th annual pride event this later this week (18-19Apr13).

Fellow Idol alumni David Hernandez, Kimberly Caldwell, Paris Bennett and Frenchie Davis are also slated to perform.
