Fergie's 'M.I.L.F.$' single was inspired by her husband Josh Duhamel's breastfeeding jokes.

The 41-year-old singer - who released her latest track last month - has revealed the lyrics empowering females and the milk puns was based on the comedic one-liners her spouse would make when she was nursing their three-year-old son Axl.

Speaking to NME magazine about the muse for the song, she said: ''When I was breastfeeding, my husband would come in and say, 'The milkman is here!' That helped with the lyrics because all these different milk puns would come into my head. Like the club in the video is called 'M.I.L.F. Shakes'.''

And the Black Eyed Peas has admitted she never thought her music would be inspiring and change people's views on motherhood amongst celebrities.

She explained: ''When I was first pregnant I was working with the producer Polow Da Don on a 2 Chainz track called 'Netflix' and Polow crawled in my head and said, 'Fergie, you're gonna change people's views of artists who have babies.' I'd never thought of that before, so 'M.I.L.F. $' is my way of doing that with a quirky sense of humour.''

And the blonde beauty has revealed she had been sitting on the hit track for almost four year before releasing it alongside a music video featuring Kim Kardashian West, Alessandra Ambrosio and Chrissy Teigen.

She said: ''This song has been marinating for about three-and-a-half years.''
