Adam is twenty five years old and has a pretty good life. He works at a museum with his goofy best friend Kyle and has a beautiful girlfriend, Rachel. Generally speaking, Adam is in excellent health - until he is told that he has a rare form of cancer.
At first, Adam refuses to believe what is happening to him. He tells Kyle, who is shocked, but ultimately supportive of him. Kyle decides to make Adam's and ultimately his own life as fun as possible, by various methods including taking Adam for a night out and trying to pick up girls by revealing that he has cancer, with humorous results.
Adam tells his family and Rachel, who are just as supportive. Adam's mother goes as far as trying to move in with Adam, which he doesn't want. Meanwhile, he shaves his head and undergoes chemotherapy treatment with a young, yet inexperienced medical student called Katie.
As Adam's health deteriorates, he begins to learn that he shouldn't take the little things for granted and to appreciate what he's had in his life.
