For the first time since leaving the Navy Larry is without a job. With a commitment to his mortgage, Larry knows he can't go on doing nothing and spending his days alone. He decides it's time to pick himself up and enrol in college. Late for his first lesson in public speaking, the whole class is within seconds of being cancelled, arriving in the brink of time Larry and his class mates are introduced to their new professor, Mercedes Tainot, who is also facing some problems of her own.
