The cast and crew of forthcoming drama biopic 'Wild' talk about Jean-Marc Vallée's direction and Reese Witherspoon's portrayal of Cheryl Strayed; an author who walked over 2,500 miles along the Pacific Crest Trail in a bid to come to terms with the problems in her life. Among them are Reese, Jean-Marc and Cheryl themselves, as well as producers Bruna Papandrea and Nathan Ross, cinematographer Yves Belanger and Reese's co-star Laura Dern.
'This is a journey I took and this is how it altered me', says Cheryl. 'And so I knew that Jean-Marc was going to get that in every frame of the film.' Jean admits his empathy with Cheryl's situation helped him capture the emotion in the movie. 'I really related to what she was going through so to portray this character on the big screen was just an amazing project', he says. Meanwhile, Reese admits she didn't realise just how much of a challenge it would be. 'It's been so physically challenging. Whether it's climbing on the side of a mountain, crossing a freezing cold river and then falling into it, because that's what really happened. I had no idea it was going to be this hard', she confesses.
