Speaking to the NME, Florence Welch said: "It’s a really amazing thing to be doing, especially in London. I’m from London, and my first gig was at a club night in Soho, performing to four people. That’s how I cut my teeth, at open mic nights, singing weird improvisational songs after Jamie T gigs.”

“There was always something going on, so you could do a gig every night if you wanted to. London made me the artist that I am, so to be doing this gig is amazing.” Welch also said she was a ‘huge fan’ of Kendrick Lamar, who will be sharing the bill with her.

Also announced for the festival are Mumford & Sons, who will headline on July 8th. Speaking about the festival the band said: “Hyde Park for us: sacrificing hopes and dreams at the altar of Neil Young; being transported to another dimension by The National; supporting Arcade Fire (the best band in the world); playing alongside our mates The Vaccines.”

“This time we get to headline and pick a bill of sick artists to play with us.  Alabama Shakes!  Wolf Alice! Gentlewomen of the Road!  We’re travelling all over at the moment, so having this massive gig to look forward to next Summer, right in the heart of our home city, is just awesome.”
