The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 Trailer

With the incredible ramifications of the end of the yearly ritualistic sacrificial televised Hunger Games, the world is thrown into disarray when the supposed saviour of the underprivileged working class travels to District 13 to help with the revolution she inadvertently started. Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) is the last hope and symbol of resistance against the capitol that seeks to keep her and her people as poverty-stricken slaves, and after surviving the aforementioned Hunger Games twice,  Katniss must learn that 'it is the things we love most that destroy us.' Now, with an army at her back, Katniss must change the course of history and bring freedom to the masses through a global armed revolution.

President Snow has a message for the people of Panem in a mock propaganda clip and the first The Hunger Games: Mockingjay teaser. Appearing dressed in white and sitting on a white throne in a white room, Snow addresses the citizens of Panem with a message. "Since the dark days, our nation has known only peace," he begins.

"Your hard work feeds us and in return we feed and protect you," Snow continues. "But if you resist the system you starve yourself. If you fight against it, it is you who will bleed." The camera pans out and we see sweet Peeta standing blank-faced next to the President.

In the movie, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) is living in District 13 after bringing down The Hunger Games. Under the leadership of President Coin (Julianne Moore), Katniss embarks on a quest to save her beloved friend Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) and the nation.

Why Do The Critics Think 'Hunger Games: Catching Fire' Is The Best Film Ever?

Jennifer Lawrence Francis Lawrence

If the first Hunger Games movie surprised everyone with its seamless transition from page to screen, The Hunger Games Catching Fire has all but astounded. With 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, Francis Lawrence has taken the franchise even further than anyone thought it could go, and the box office should represent that after the film’s release on November 22nd.

But what’s the secret behind the Catching Fire’s success? Often, films build up a strong set of reviews only to find the rest of the critics aren’t reading from the same hymnbook; that’s when the Rotten Tomatoes score starts to slide. But the latest Hunger Games movie did the opposite. A respectable score in the high 80s looked to be a solid precursor to what everyone expects to be a Thor-toppling box office this weekend.

They spent how much on Catching Fire?!

With a massive budget and a returning cast of superstars, the movie delves once more into Collins' teen fiction post-apocalyptic universe to reunite with Katniss, Peeta, Gale, Haymitch and the others as the Districts of Panem rise up in rebellion after the 74th Hunger Games victory.

It’s difficult to pinpoint where The Hunger Games got it so perfectly right. Could it be the inspired choice of Jennifer Lawrence to become the face of Katniss, or is it simply the sheer popularity of the books that preceded the films? Surely some of the credit has to go to Francis Lawrence for outdoing Gary Ross’s impressive initial effort.

Whatever the reason, it was easy to see just how far the franchise has come in London on Monday (Nov, 11) when the stars graced the red carpet for the film’s premiere. Since the first film, which was a commercial and critical success, Jennifer Lawrence has gone from talented youngster to global superstar. Her Oscar win for Silver Linings Playbook was unexpected, but the general consensus was that it was no more than she deserved.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Trailer

After becoming the first duo to win the annual Hunger Games following its 74th year, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark have spread hope among the people of Panem who now feel the possibility of a revolution. However, the Capitol realise how dangerous this could be for their ordered, totalitarian society and force them to compete once again, alongside 22 other previous winners in the The Quarter Quell - an event that happens every 25th years and allows the Capitol to invent a new twist for the year's Games. Tensions arise between Katniss and Peeta who both want the other to be the victor in the 75th Hunger Games and do everything within their power to protect each other.

'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' is the highly anticipated sequel to 2012's 'The Hunger Games'; the film adaptation to Suzanne Collins' sci-fi novel trilogy. Taking over from Gary Ross as director is Francis Lawrence ('I Am Legend', 'Constantine', 'Water for Elephants') with screenwriting from Simon Beaufoy ('The Full Monty', 'Slumdog Millionaire', '127 Hours') and Michael Arndt ('Oblivion', 'Toy Story 3', 'Little Miss Sunshine'), though we'll still see the same star cast reprising their roles. It is due to be released in cinemas everywhere on November 21st 2013.

Lawrence impressed fans with her anecdotes of clumsiness and her gentle humour. She commented on the difficulties she faced whilst filming physical scenes, stating "running and trying not to hit myself in the face with my bow, those were my two greatest challenges." She also referenced one scene in which she wears -in a propaganda photograph shoot- a vast wedding dress: five feet in diameter. Of the costume she said it "was one of the hardest things I've done in my life".

The Hangover III

The big global release this week is The Hangover Part III, and the cast has been jetting around the world for premieres in Los Angeles and London, where fans screamed at actors Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms and Ken Jeong as they paraded up the red carpet. The critical response hasn't been quite as positive.

The 66th Cannes Film Festival winds down this weekend in France. Critics are praising new films by Steven Soderbergh (Behind the Candelabra starring Michael Douglas and Matt Damon), Alexander Payne (Nebraska with Bruce Dern) and the Coen Brothers (Inside Llewyn Davis with break-out actor Oscar Isaac). They weren't so thrilled by Ryan Gosling's reunion with Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn for Only God Forgives, although they praised costar Kristin Scott Thomas for going far against type.

The first full trailer for the Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire has been released, debuting at the MTV Movie awards on Sunday (April 14, 2013). Recent Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence once again takes center stage as Katniss Everdeen, the winner of the brutal fight to the death who appears to have become a sign of hope for the rest of society.

The shadowy Capitol is less than pleased with the fanfare surrounding Katniss' return from the Hunger Games arena and want her removed. "She has become a beacon of hope for them, she has to be eliminated," says Donald Sutherland's President Snow, before Philip Seymour Hoffman's Plutarch Heavensbee adds, "I agree she should die, but in the right way, at the right time. Katniss Everdeen is a symbol, just her image. Show them she is one of us now, let them rally behind that."

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire - Teaser Trailer

Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark have become symbols of hope to the people of the dystopic Panem after becoming the first pair to win the 74th Annual Hunger Games in a brutal battle to the death between two teenagers of each of the 12 famished districts. Now is the time they must leave their families to tackle a 'Victor's Tour' of each district. However, the President sees her as a threat to their capitalist society and vows to have her killed, but first to make the people of every district turn against her. Rebellion appears to be arising among the people and Katniss just wants to get through the tour safely. But with the 75th Games approaching, known as The Quarter Quell, the Capitol decide to introduce the biggest twist the Games have ever seen; a twist that will completely transform their nation.

The second instalment to this sci-fi dystopia trilogy is soon to arrive with direction being taken over by Francis Lawrence ('I Am Legend', 'Constantine', 'Water for Elephants'). This time, Oscar winning screenwriters Simon Beaufoy ('The Full Monty', 'Slumdog Millionaire', '127 Hours') and Michael Arndt ('Oblivion', 'Toy Story 3', 'Little Miss Sunshine') have adapted the novel series by Suzanne Collins and we will see a return of 'The Hunger Games' star cast. 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' is set to hit screens on November 22nd 2013.

Jennifer Lawrence: Catching Fire And Why She's The Best Woman In Hollywood

Jennifer Lawrence Francis Lawrence

There are few ways left to refer to Jennifer Lawrence as awesome in any kind of new or original manner. Everyone loves her; critics, audiences and awards boards alike. Star of both The Hunger Games franchise and also the recent Silver Linings Playbook, alongside Bradley Cooper, you'd think that kind of fame would go to her head. However, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly she tells it as it is.

"I'm so aware of all the b.s. that surrounds Hollywood," she says, "and how everyone gets on this high horse and thinks that they're curing cancer and it makes me so uncomfortable every time I see it. So I go in the exact opposite direction and end up saying something like 'I'm pregnant!' when I'm in two franchises." Just to clarify: Jennifer Lawrence is not pregnant. The exact opposite direction is distinctly endearing in the 22 year old, who's dating Brit Skins star Nicholas Holt.

The new movie, not out until next November, has got itself a new director, swapping Gary Ross for Francis Lawrence. His portfolio is predominantly music videos but he also directed the 2007 Will Smith smash hit I Am Legend, as well as Water for Elephants in 2011. Apparently, the transition was difficult for Jennifer Lawrence's co-star and on-screen mentor, Woody Harrelson who plays Haymitch in the movie. But Jennifer gets on with everyone and even through a wild party for the cast and crew. Humble, talented and fun? Not bad going. You can catch Catching Fire on November 21st. Until then keep up to date with Contact Music as we fill you in on news and events surrounding the movie.
