Frankie Muniz, 27, Just "Happy To Be Alive" After Stroke

Frankie Muniz

Malcolm in the Middle star Frankie Muniz says he is just "happy to be alive" after suffering a mini-stroke on Friday (November 30, 2012) which temporarily debilitated his vision. The former child star turned musician noticed something wasn't quite right while riding his motorcycle in Arizona before his body became numb.

Muniz says he's never tasted "a sip of alcohol" or smoked a cigarette and considered himself a healthy individual, however, he was rushed to hospital after his body stopped functioning properly and his speech became slurred. "Something wasn't right, I know I did not feel right," Muniz told Good Morning America on Wednesday. "I couldn't say words, and I thought I was saying them. And my fiance was looking at me like I was speaking a foreign language. I can't get a deep breath in. I'm still trying to make sense of it, um, but happy that I'm alive." The actor stunned fans with the surprise announcement on Tuesday, tweeting, "I was in the hospital last Friday. I suffered a Mini Stroke, which was not fun at all. Have to start taking care of my body! Getting old!" His long-time girlfriend Elycia Turnbow subsequently Instagrammed a photograph of Muniz looking drained in a hospital bed.

Muniz, now the drummer in the band Kingsfoil, is scheduled to begin his latest tour later this week.

Frankie Muniz "Happy To Be Alive" On 27th Birthday After Mini-Stroke

Frankie Muniz

The news that Frankie Muniz suffered a mini stroke came as quite a shock to fans of his, most of which know him from his role as Malcolm in The Middle. Muniz was only 26 when it happened, and has spent his 27th birthday in recovery after the health scare.

It's no way to spend a birthday week, but then again, if you're a glass half full kinda person, then not being dead and actually reaching your 27th birthday is nothing but a blessing. "I couldn't say words. I thought I was saying them. My fiancee was looking at me as if I was speaking a foreign language," Muniz recalled to Good Morning America. A mini stroke is caused by tiny lapses in blood flow to the brain. Considering Muniz's age (this kind of thing happens most typically to those 55+) it's hard to see where this came from, and when you consider he lives a life free of drugs and alcohol (same thing), then it only serves to enhance the enigma.

Muniz alerted fans to his stroke on Twitter, posting, "I was in the hospital last Friday. I suffered a 'Mini Stroke,' which was not fun at all," hetweeted just a few hours ago. "Have to start taking care of my body! Getting old!" His girlfriend also used social media to inform people of his near miss, updating her Instagram with a photo of him laying in a hospital bed.

Malcolm In The Middle Star Suffers Mini-Stroke, Frankie Muniz Ordered To Rest

Frankie Muniz has suffered a mini-stroke at the age of 25.

The star of Malcolm in the Middle was taken to hospital on Friday (November 30, 2012) when his friends started to notice that he was “acting really weird,” TMZ report. He was having trouble understanding words and struggling to speak, so his friends made sure that he got rushed to hospital.

The doctors told Frankie that he’d suffered a mini-stroke though they’re not currently sure what may have caused it, so they’ve done some tests to get the young actor checked out. Frankie confirmed the news via Twitter, where he told his followers “I was in the hospital last Friday. I suffered a "mini stroke", which was not fun at all. “Have to start taking care of my body!” he added. “Getting old!”

Malcolm In The Middle Star Frankie Muniz Endures "Mini Stroke"

Frankie Muniz

For those who still watch Malcolm in The Middle, this will have come as a shock, for the show's titular star, it would have been a whole lot worse than that, as at just 26 years of age, he's survived a "mini stroke".

Alerting his fans, as many celebs do these days, Muniz declared the news on twitter, and seeing as he survived, we're calling it good news.  "I was in the hospital last Friday. I suffered a 'Mini Stroke', which was not fun at all," he told his 158,000 online followers. "Have to start taking care of my body! Getting old!" he tweeted. His girlfriend, Elycia Turnbow, also took to social media, deciding that her boyfriend laying in a hospital bed was a good time to update her instagram account. She posted a photo of Muniz covering his face with tags on his wrist. Depressing. Still, we're glad he's okay and wish him a full and healthy recovery.

Muniz is, of course, famous for his turn as Malcolm in Malcolm in The Middle. But he made the shock decision, after being such a popular character in the show, to quit acting and race cars for a living. Since then, with his sporty adventure out the way (and it wasn't very successful), he's added music to the strings of his bow, turning out as drummer for indie Kingsfoil. The band are supposed to start touring this week.

Doctors are completely baffled the mini-stroke that Frankie Muniz suffered last week, TMZ reports.

According to sources, Frankie, who is now 26 (can you believe it!) was admitted to an Arizona hospital last week after friends were "freaked out" by his strange behaviour. Apparently he couldn't speak and was having trouble understanding people- some common signs of a stroke. He tweeted to his 150,000 followers that he'd been in hospital:

Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London Review

Bad

Last year's kiddie secret-agent comedy "Agent Cody Banks" was a stupid movie that got by on clever charm. It starred Frankie Muniz (from "Malcolm in the Middle") as a junior-high James Bond who had to get over his fear of talking to girls in order to complete his mission and save the world from some contrived evil.

The picture got a enough mileage out of Muniz's amusing believability as a secret agent on training wheels and out of its tongue-in-cheek twists (to keep his parents in the dark, the CIA did his homework and housework while he was on assignment) to balance out a lot of slapdash screenwriting -- so all in all, it squeaked by as good family fun.

But the rushed-into-production sequel "Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London" is twice as stupid and without even an infinitesimal hint of the cleverness that kept the original afloat.
