The Trap Queen hitmaker, real name Willie Maxwell, headed back to his hometown on Thursday (27Aug15) to host a free concert at his alma mater, Eastside High School, in an effort to inspire inner city youths.

The show was made extra special for Fetty Wap as the Mayor of Paterson, Jose Torres, helped to launch the event by joining the rapper onstage to hand him the special honour.

Accepting the framed key, he gave thanks to the crowd, saying, "Without y'all, the world wouldn't know who I am."

He later shared a photo of the proud moment on Instagram.com, and captioned the shot, "I love my city #Paterson #NJ they gave me the key #Hardworkpaysoff (sic)".

During the show, Fetty Wap treated fans to renditions of his songs Trap Queen, Again and My Way, while pal French Montana also made a surprise appearance for the students.

The key presentation kickstarted a winning weekend for Fetty Wap - he also claimed the Artist to Watch Award at the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night (30Aug15).
