Gabriella Wilde Joins Cast Of ‘Poldark’ For Second Season

Gabriella Wilde has joined the cast of Poldark. The 26-year-old will play a “beautiful and manipulative heiress” in the second season of the BBC period drama. Wilde is known for her roles in such films as Carrie and Endless Love. She is also a society darling and a close friend of model and actress Cressida Bonas.

Wilde has been cast as Caroline Penvenen, the niece of wealthy landowner Ray Penvenen.

Wilde is joining two new actors to the series. Ray Penvenen will be played by John Nettles, the 71-year-old actor best known for his role as DCI Tom Barnaby in Midsomer Murders. Caroline's love interest will be Poldark's friend Dr. Dwight Enys (Luke Norris) although he has stiff competition in MP Unwin Trevaunance, played by another newcomer W1A actor Hugh Skinner.

Heida Reed and Eleanor Tomlinson are returning for the second season.

Filming for Poldark is set to begin this week in Cornwall. The second season is slated for release next year. Reports suggest we could be in for another five years of Poldark on the BBC, based on the novels by Winston Graham.

The series is hugely popular and, as a result, the upcoming series has been extended to ten episodes from the eight episodes of season one.

As for the plot of the second season of Poldark, we may be in for an even more dramatic ride as a spokesperson for the series told The Telegraph.
