Wonder Woman is the movie's real star.
Gal Gadot stars as Wonder Woman in her first live action embodiment since the 70s when she was portrayed by Lynda Carter. 'Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice' sees two uber-macho superheroes go head to head, but their rivalry is disrupted by the arrival of a much wiser peer in the form of centuries-old Diana Prince.

We're hardly new to the idea of a strong female superhero in cinema. There's been at least ten in the 'X-Men' franchise, then you've got Gamora in 'Guardians of the Galaxy', Catwoman in 'Batman' and Black Widow in 'The Avengers', but there's still a lot more room for oestrogen in the comic-to-film world and its incredible that it's taken until now to re-boot the Amazonian princess Wonder Woman.
'I think she's important for everyone', says Gadot. 'Little girls can see and be inspired to know that they can be strong and independent, sophisticated and powerful women when they grow up. And for little boys, they know that they can respect women.'

While the battle between Batman and Superman is largely a clash of muscles, Wonder Woman brings something other than physical power to the table. 'Wonder Woman brings a lot of values with her rather than the fact that she's very strong and she has this amazing strength', Gadot adds. 'She's been around for so long and she's very wise. She knows how to choose her battles, she can read a few steps forward and I think this is a very important character for all people to see.'
Gal Gadot proves girls can be just as sophisticated as they are powerful
Plus, working alongside director Zack Snyder turned out to be a real treat for Gadot, who both take onscreen female empowerment very seriously. Gadot has had a recurring role in the 'Fast And Furious' franchise as Gisele who is quite the badass car-racer, while Snyder led a crusade of Samurai sword wielding girls against their captors in 2011's 'Sucker Punch'. 'He's so women-friendly', says Gadot. 'He's very into women empowerment and I think that for him, it's very important to show a strong female on the big screen that is equal to the other superheroes.'
