Gal Gadot
The Israeli Model Is Pretty Tough Too.

Though Thor actress Jaimie Alexander was originally the favourite the take on the world-famous female superhero role and had even courted the idea out loud, it appears that the 28 year-old former Miss Israel winner pipped her to the post.

Find out who Contact Music predicted for the leotard and lasso.

"Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe," said director Zack Snyder, in a statement. "Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character."

Henry Cavill

The mother-of-one is certainly an unexpected choice to be cast as Lynda Carter, AKA Wonder Woman, but with two already big name actors in the main roles, DC Comics have pulled a Marvel by casting a relative unknown in a supporting role. It appears that at this stage, fans are sceptical of how far Wonder Woman will really be able to stretch her hero wings in a movie already pretty crowded by two of the other best-known heroes.

As well as the dark hair and captivating beauty being a photo fit for Carter, the Fast & Furious actress will have been prepared for her physically demanding role with her two years serving in the Israeli army working as a sports trainer. Though the casting news is certainly something to celebrate, the actress has been having a hard time recently dealing with the death of her F&F co-star Paul Walker.

"Lost a dear friend today. So sudden and tragic," Gadot tweeted as the news of Walker's car crash hit the headlines. She added via Facebook "Can't believe I'm actually writing this.. I'm sending my condolences to his family and his precious daughter Meadow. Rest in peace brother. We will miss you here.."

Despite her successful modelling career, the Miss Universe candidate is clearly not precious: she is said to be an avid motorcyclist too. To add to her credentials, last year Shalom Life named her the fifth out of "the 50 most talented, intelligent, funny, and gorgeous Jewish women in the world."
