Disgraced pop star Gary Glitter is back behind bars after he was found guilty of sexually abusing young girls on Thursday (05Feb15).

The glam rock icon, real name Paul Gadd, was convicted of attempted rape, four charges of indecent assault, and one count of having sex with a girl under the age of 13 at London's Southwark Crown Court.

The sex crimes took place during Glitter's heyday in the 1970s, with some occurring in his dressing room after gigs.

He was cleared of two further indecent assaults and of plying one victim with alcohol to try to have sex with her.

Glitter, who was jailed for child porn possession in 1999 and then sentenced to prison in Vietnam in 2006 for committing obscene acts with two girls aged 10 and 11, shook his head and muttered to himself as the guilty verdicts were announced.

He was remanded in custody and is due to be sentenced on 27 February (15).
