It’s the moment fans of Downton Abbey and well, George Clooney have been waiting for! Yes Hollywood’s favourite silver fox will be making a trip to Britain’s most famous luxury home later this month a part of special charity short. But fans desperate for an early glimpse of gorgeous George have been given an early treat, with a brief teaser clip released by ITV.

In the clip Lady Cora appears to mistake George for her husband Lord Grantham as she addresses him as “dearest” and says “Lord and Lady Carlyle have invited us for dinner tonight.” We assume she was then very red faced once Mr Clooney turned round.

Little is known about Clooney’s character, other than he will be playing ‘an American wedding guest’. The short film will air in the UK on December 18th, as part of British channel ITV’s ‘text Santa’ charity campaign. Funds raised by Text Santa will go to Guide Dogs, Teenage Cancer Trust, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Alzheimer's Society, Together For Short Lives and WellChild.

The first picture released of Clooney on the Downton set showed him with Hugh Bonneville (who plays Lord Crawley), wearing a suit and looking unmistakably like George Clooney. The two actors, who also starred together in The Monuments Men earlier this year, seemed to share a joke as they held a clapperboard.

Speaking to London’s Metro newspaper actress Laura Carmichael, who plays Lady Edith Crawley said it was “amazing” having Clooney on set. Adding that the cast didn't actually know if it was going to happen, “We were filming and then heard, ‘He’s here! He’s here! He’s arrived!’”she said.
