They may have been married for eight months now, but the honeymoon period certainly doesn't sound like it’s over for George Clooney and wife Amal Alamuddin. While promoting his latest movie Tomorrowland, former bachelor George has been gushing about his beautiful wife, who he deserves as, ‘one of the smartest people I've ever met’.

"She's an amazing human being,” the actor told Entertainment Tonight. "And she's caring. And she also happens to be one of the smartest people I've ever met. And she's got a great sense of humor."

Amal is also quickly becoming known for her unique sense of style, recently hitting the Met Gala in an eye-catching red tired dress by designer John Galliano. "It's amazing, because she's always – since the day I met her – she's always had this insanely … it's eccentric but it's fun, sense of fashion," Clooney said of his wife’s new found status as a fashionista.

"What's even more impressive is that she does it while she's got 11 cases she's working on, and she was teaching at Columbia, and she's still like, 'I want to wear that dress,' " he added. ”It's crazy … she has such great taste."

The actor has also opened up about how he began his romance with the human rights lawyer, telling Access Hollywood's Liz Hernandez that it didn't take him long to realise Amal was the one. "I think about three days in, you could tell,” Clooney revealed.

"I mean, I knew when I met her that she was so extraordinary and special. And then I wondered if I'd ever get a chance to date her. Then, we became friends for a while before and then luckily, she said yes," the actor added.

George also admitted that he, like most other people, was initially intimidated by Amal, but described his wife as ‘an incredibly warm, wonderful person’. But while some may be nervous when meeting Amal, the 37 year old has no problem mixing with her husband’s Hollywood crowd.

When asked if his wife gets nervous attending A-lister events with her husband, Clooney said, “She actually doesn't, because when she works, people's lives are on the line, So I think that 'play land' doesn't intimidate her."
