George Clooney helped make an elderly fan’s birthday wish come true on Sunday, when he visited her to help celebrate her 87th birthday.

The actor paid a surprise visit to fan Pat Adams, who lives at a retirement home in Berkshire, near where Clooney resides with his wife Amal. Speaking about the meeting to ‘Good Morning Britain’ Pat described George as ‘the perfect gentleman and a delight’.

George came bearing birthday gifts, presenting Pat with a bunch of flowers and a card which read: ‘Pat, I thought you’d like some flowers. With love, George.’

Sharing a picture of Pat and George together on Facebook, Linda Jones, who works at the retirement home, wrote: ‘The lady in the picture, loves George Clooney and mentions everyday how she would love him to meet him, especially as he lives so near to where I work.’

Linda added that a letter was then sent to George, asking would it be possible to make Pat’s dream come true.

Speaking to MailOnline, Malcolm Hague, Divisional Support General Manager at Sunrise of Sonning, added 'We are so delighted that Pat’s wish came true.

'She was absolutely thrilled to meet her great icon, and it was such a lovely surprise to see George greet her with flowers and a card. This was a classy gesture from a wonderful man, and it has brought smiles to everyone. Huge thank you to George.’

On Tuesday Pat spoke to ‘Good Morning Britain’ about George’s visit and was asked if she’d been starstruck: ‘No, I was just thrilled to meet him. He was the perfect gentleman and a delight,’ the 87-year-old said.

Pat added that George was a ‘charming man’ and that she ‘shook his hand, perfectly natural, and that was it.’ When asked if she’d asked the actor about his impending fatherhood, Pat said: ‘That's his private life - I don't like to be nosy.’
