George Michael

George Michael diced with death earlier this week when the former Wham! star fell out of the passenger seat of a moving vehicle whilst on the M1 motorway way in St Albans, near London. The singer was airlifted to hospital where he was deemed to have only suffered minor injuries during the incident a week ago today (May 16), but was kept overnight and is believed to have remained their for some time after.

It hasn't been made clear whether he has left hospital yet. Fellow drivers on the road at the time have since discussed the shocking moment, mentioning how close the singer ,real name Georgios Panayiotou, came to being struck by anotehr car. The whole incident has thrown George's personal wellbeing into check, with many wondering what could have happened in the seconds before he fell/ejected himself from the car. George Michael Kept Under Observation After Near Death Experience

George Michael

You can pretty much guarantee that no one sitting on the M1, on Thursday afternoon (May 16) would have attributed the traffic jam to George Michael falling out of his car at 70mph. But, that’s exactly what happened, and the WHAM star has been kept in hospital.

He was found on the road by paramedics at the scene of the accident after tumbling from his range rover ON THE MOTORWAY. His spokeswoman said: "Following the traffic accident on Thursday, we can confirm that he is still in hospital. We are keen to stress it's purely as a precaution for observation.” Despite the seriousness of the accident, Michael is said to only have suffered minor injuries, which is somewhat of a miracle. "He did suffer a couple of bumps and bruises to the head and that's why they are keeping him in - to keep an eye on him. He is doing better. He is making good progress and is looking forward to getting out." What the spokesperson should address is exactly how exactly George Michael is alive and not the opposite: dead.

Don’t get us wrong, we love a bit of George – his performance in Extras was funny – but if you fall out of a car on the motorway, at 70 miles-per-hour, you should be dead. Not morally, geometrically. Anyway, we’re glad he survived this ordeal, and we wish him the best in his recovery. Piece of advice: stay in the car until it’s completely stopped.

So, You're Driving Along And See George Michael Fall Out Of His Car At 70mph

George Michael

We literally have no idea how George Michael isn't dead. The superstar singer fell from his car on the M1 motorway whilst travelling at 70mph. Remember when your Dad would do that cool thing when his door wasn't properly shut? He'd open it whilst the car was moving at a high speed and slam it shut. Only your Dad was wearing his seatbelt. And your Dad wasn't speeding along down the M1. And your Dad didn't fall out onto the motorway.

Reports suggest George tried the old slam-the-door-shut trick while travelling as a passenger but ended up in the middle of the carriageway. Stunned driver Katherine Fox, 23, skidded to a halt as the singer hit the ground dressed in an Adidas tracksuit and sunglasses. "There was a nasty cut on his forehead and the back of his head. There was blood all down his face and on his teeth. He was breathing and conscious but in shock," she told The Sun. Katherine was driving behind a silver Range Rover when George suddenly tumbled from a passenger door onto the third lane of the carriageway. "I saw blood everywhere and a man on the ground," she added, "I thought someone had run across the road and been hit.I asked what had gone on and was told he tried to open the car door and shut it again because it wasn't shut properly and apparently fell out at 70mph."

The singer - who was close to death after contracting pneumonia last year - was in the car with two friends. He was airlifted to hospital on Thursday from the scene at the M1's junction 6A with the M25. Hours later, his boyfriend Fadi Fawaz told press outside the couple's North London home, "I've spoken to him and he's good." He was treated for cuts and bruises.

George Michael’s Car Accident Explained – Singer Fell From Speeding Car

George Michael

When George Michael’s car accident was reported, and subsequently passed off as "superficial cuts and bruises" by his publicist Connie Filipello, no one quite knew the seriousness of the incident, until now.

Katherine Fox, 23, an eyewitness, says that Michael fell from his Range Rover on the M1. “He was lucky he didn’t die,” she explained. "There was a nasty cut on his forehead and the back of his head. There was blood all down his face and on his teeth,” added Fox. "He was breathing and conscious but in shock." Katherine was driving along the busy motorway when all of a sudden; George Michael fell from his car and onto the road. “I thought someone had run across the road and been hit. I asked what had gone on and was told he tried to open the car door and shut it again because it wasn’t shut properly and apparently fell out at 70mph. George was airlifted to hospital on Thursday from the scene. Hours later his boyfriend Fadi Fawaz, speaking at their North London home, said: “I’ve spoken to him and he’s good."

George Michael Fell Out Of Moving Vehicle Prior To Recent Crash

George Michael

Remember last weeks story that George Michael had gotten involved in a car accident on the M1 but managed to survive without any major injuries? Well it turns out Michael wasn't just in a near miss, but he practically stared death in the face as he fell from the car at speeds of around 70 mph, straight into the path of a swarm of oncoming vehicles.

Apparently, the 49-year-old singer was sitting in the passenger side of the car and was attempting to close his door properly, only to end up tumbling out of the Range Rover and into the fast lane of the M1 near St Albans, Hertfordshire. According to The Sun, a female driver was in the adjoining lane when the singer fell out and very nearly ran over him, telling the paper on Monday (May 20) how he was “lucky he didn’t die” as a number if vehicles swerved around and narrowly missed him.

The woman in question, 23-year-old Mini driver Katherine Fox, told the paper of how she was forced to perform an emergency stop and then swerve into the road so that her car could shield the singer as he lay in the middle of the road in a blood-soaked daze. She went on to say: “There was a nasty cut on his forehead and the back of his head. There was blood all down his face and on his teeth. He was breathing and conscious but in shock.

George Michael Released From Hospital After Crash – “I Spoke To Him And He Is Good” Confirms Boyfriend

George Michael

George Michael has been released from hospital following a car crash. His long-term boyfriend, Fadi Fawaz, allayed fears that for former Wham! Star was seriously injured, confirming that he’s “good”.

“Of course I was worried, but I spoke to him and he is good,” said the 39-year-old. “He suffered a few bruises but there is nothing to worry about.” At the time of the crash, ambulance spokesman Gary Sanderson said: “A man who we believe to be in his 40s sustained a head injury and following treatment, stabilisation and immobilisation by land and air ambulance crews, he was flown to hospital for further care.” Michael flying to hospital sparked rumours that he was in a bad way, so the news that he has been released from hospital will be a relief to his fans. “I have no idea what happened,” added Fawaz. A spokesman for the police force said: “The exact circumstances of what happened are unclear at this time and until further investigations have been carried out, it would be inappropriate for us to comment.”

A spokeswoman for the singer, who has recently been suffering from various illnesses, which forced him out of some live dates, had said: “George Michael was a passenger in a vehicle involved in a traffic accident, no third party was involved. He is being treated for superficial cuts and bruises but is fine. We have no further comment at this time."

George Michael Rushed To Hospital Following Motorway Crash

George Michael

George Michael was airlifted to hospital today following a crash on the M1 motorway, with the singer's Range Rover veering into a roadside barrier Wednesday (May 15) evening. The former Wham! singer was rushed to hospital with head injuries, but is expected to make a full recovery, with a spokesperson for the singer saying he only sustained "superficial cuts" and was "fine."

Apparently, Michael was only a passenger in the car when it crashed close to junction 6A, near St Albans, Hertfordshire. No other vehicles were involved in the crash and the driver, who's name has been witheld, is believed to have escaped uninjured. Michael's spokesperson, Connie Filippello, revealed on Thursday (May 16): "George Michael was a passenger in a vehicle involved in a traffic accident yesterday evening. No third party was involved. We have no further comment at this time."

No arrests have been made in connection with the crash, however police were forced to close the northbound carriageway for an hour, whilst emergency services dealt with the aftermath and cleared debris. A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Police said yesterday; "The exact circumstances of what happened are unclear at this time and until further investigations have been carried out it would be inappropriate for us to comment further."

George Michael's Back In The Studio, But After The Olympics, Who’s Listening?

George Michael Spice Girls The Who

George Michael is working on a new album, according to his Twitter feed today (January 25, 2013). The pop star, who made it big in the ‘80s as part of Wham! and went on to have a successful solo career with songs such as ‘Careless Whisper’ and ‘Faith,’ has been talking about the possibility of a new album for some months, but has now confirmed that the recording process is underway, with a tweet that read “Hi everyone, hope you are all well, just to let you know I've been back in the studio a few weeks now, working on the new record....”

After suffering a serious bout of pneumonia, which left him fighting for his life, George Michael managed to stage a remarkable comeback, which culminated in him performing at last year’s London 2012 Olympics ceremony. However, the response to his performance there was probably not what George expected. Dressed in black leather and reflective shades, the 49 year old started off well, with a performance of his old classic, ‘Freedom 90,’ which fit in well with the nostalgic feel of the event, which also saw the likes of The Spice Girls and The Who perform. Everything went wrong for George Michael, though, when he used the opportunity to promote his new single, which was obviously not such a popular choice for the crowd, who were getting into the sing-along nature of the event.

Suddenly, a nation turned on George. No sooner were we praising his physical recovery than we were calling for him to be banished from the world of pop, for his commercial faux pas. So, George, you might be busy recording a new album, but some of us are still sulking over the Olympics, you know.

Mariah Carey Sings 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' On Jimmy Fallon; Plus, Our Top 5 Christmas Songs

Mariah Carey Leigh Francis The Darkness George Michael The Pogues Kirsty Mccoll David Bowie Bing Crosby

Mariah Carey ruddy loves reminding us that she sang one of the best known Christmas pop songs of all time. Just in case her original version of 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' wasn’t played enough around this time of year as it was, she also decided to pop up wearing a really quite short Santa’s outfit alongside then 17 year-old Justin Bieber in re-do of the song last year.

So we were pretty firmly on Carey watch this year, just waiting to see when she’d pop up to offer yet another ‘fresh’ update on her ubiquitous track. And it happened with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots in tow. In fairness, the chat show host sort of asked for it; he was going to perform a version of the song anyway with rappers The Roots in tow on toy instruments. Trust Carey to want to get in on the act though; sure enough, after the slow intro, there she was in a red dress, admittedly still hitting the notes and taking center stage as the rest of them played amiably behind her. Reports that she’d rushed off soon after the show because her senses had picked up a family in the Tulsa region about to get going on their own karaoke version of the song in their living room remain unsubstantiated.

Check out Carey join Fallon and The Roots below; then scroll down to see our own festive top 5.

George Michael Cancels Australian Tour Dates Citing "Anxiety"

George Michael

George Michael has cancelled forthcoming tour dates in Australia, citing anxiety brought on by his battle with pneumonia last year as the reason why he has had to pull the shows. Michael will still be completing his forthcoming live commitments in the UK and Europe, but his tour down under that was supposed to start at the beginning of November is now no longer.

"I have ... announced the cancellation of the shows in Australia which breaks my heart," Michael said in a statement."Since last year's illness I have tried in vain to work my way through the trauma that the doctors who saved my life warned me I would experience." Continuing, he added "They recommended complete rest ... but I'm afraid I believed (wrongly) that making music and getting out there to perform for the audiences that bring me such joy would be therapy enough in itself."

Michael will seek treatment upon completion of his European shows, and said "I was wrong to think I could work my way through the major anxiety that has plagued me since I left Austria last December. All that's left for me to do is apologise to my wonderful Australian fan base and to promise faithfully that as soon as I completed these shows here in the UK, I will receive the treatment which is so long overdue."

George Michael Cancels Australian Leg Of His Tour Due To “Major Anxiety” After Struggle With Pneumonia

George Michael Wham

In the aftermath of his life-threatening condition of pneumonia late last year, George Michael has been forced, by his mental ill-health, to cancel the final leg of his worldwide tour in Australia.

Although Michael, ex-front man of Wham!, will perform at all the dates set for the UK over the next two weeks, beginning with tonight's concert at the Sheffield Motorpoint Arena, South Yorkshire, he feels unable to continue to Australia for the six dates he was meant to perform there in November and December this year. All fans that have bought tickets will automatically have their ticket price reimbursed by October 12th.

Michael cites the cause of his cancellation to “major anxiety” after doctors spent three weeks trying to keep him alive in Austria having contracted pneumonia in late 2011. The remainder of his Symphonica tour was postponed until this year.

George Michael's "Major Anxiety" Causes Australian Tour To Be Cancelled

George Michael

The George Michael tour of Australia has been cancelled, reports The Chicago Tribune, because of the "major anxiety" he is suffering following a turbulent year for his health.

He had been due to open in Australia in Perth on November 10 before performing in Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Hunter Valley on December 1, but the WHAM singer, who fell ill in Vienna last November, was treated under intensive care for a month for a life-threatening illness, and is still feeling the effects now. "Since last year's illness I have tried in vain to work my way through the trauma that the doctors who saved my life warned me I would experience," Michael said. "They recommended complete rest ... but I'm afraid I believed (wrongly) that making music and getting out there to perform for the audiences that bring me such joy would be therapy enough in itself." Ticket holders for his much-anticipated string of gigs down under will receive a full refund.

George Michael Cancels Australian Leg Of World Tour

George Michael

George Michael has pulled out of the Australian leg of his 'Symphonica' tour, detailing to his fans that the reason he has been forced to cancel the gigs is due to the 'major anxiety' he still feels regarding his recent bout with pneumonia.

George, who performed during the closing ceremony of the Olympics, issued a statement on his own website detailing that the shows he was scheduled to play throughout November and the start of December have had to be cancelled, something that "breaks [his] heart" to do.
