Geri Halliwell (born Geraldine Estelle Halliwell; 06.08.1972) Geri Halliwell is an English singer best known for being a former member of the girlband Spice Girls and donning the moniker Ginger Spice.
Childhood Geri: Halliwell was born in Watford. Her parents are Laurence Francis Halliwell and Ana María. She grew up on a council estate in North Watford and attended Watford Grammar School for Girls. Before joining the Spice Girls, she worked as a nightclub dancer, a TV presenter and a glamour model.
Musical career: Geri Halliwell joined the Spice Girls in 1994 and was dubbed Ginger Spice in 1996 by Top of the Pops magazine. She was popular for her vibrant outfits, particularly her Union Jack dress that she wore at the 1997 BRIT awards. The band became the biggest selling girlband ever and sold more than 65 million records. Their debut single 'Wannabe' shot to number one and they subsequently had eight other number one singles including 'Mama' and '2 Become 1'. In 1998, she left the group due to musical differences and because she was suffering from depression. In 1999, she released her debut solo album 'Schizophonic' with number one singles 'Mi Chico Latino', 'Lift Me Up' and 'Bag It Up'. In 2001, she released her second album, 'Scream If You Wanna Go Faster', on which she covered 80s hit 'It's Raining Men' by the Weather Girls. It was a massive hit and landed platinum certification. In 2004, she released single 'Ride It', which reached number four in the UK. She arranged a UK tour that never came to fruition due to poor ticket sales. In 2005, she released her third album 'Passion'. In 2007, she announced that she would take part in a Spice Girls reunion tour entitled Return of the Spice Girls. In 2012, she reunited with the band yet again for the 2012 London Olympics Closing Ceremony.
Other career ventures Geri Halliwell released her autobiography 'If Only' in 1999. In 2002, she became a judge on the TV talent show 'Popstars: The rivals' with Pete Waterman and Louis Walsh. In 2007, she signed a book deal with Macmillan Children's Books to release a book series called 'Ugenia Lavender'. In 2010, she was a guest judge on 'The X Factor' and returned once again in 2012. She released her own bikini through Next in 2011. Geri Halliwell: Personal life Geri Halliwell had a daughter called Bluebell Madonna in 2006 and it is thought, but not confirmed, that the father is film director Sacha Gervasi. She supports Watford Football Club. In 1999, she became a representative for the United Nations Population Fund and subsequently travelled the world on behalf of the charity, visiting Zambia to raise awareness about HIV and AIDS. Scary Spice lived up to her name when she thought the future of their new collaboration - G.E.M - hung in the balance
While pregnancy announcements are normally greeted with nothing but excitement, it seems one Spice Girl lived up to her nickname when she heard about Geri Horner’s baby news. Mel B, a.k.a. Scary Spice has reportedly been left frustrated by news of a second mini Ginger Spice because it could get in the way of a Spice (or G.E.M as they’re now known) reunion.

Reports have surfaced that the 41-year-old has been complaining to pals about Geri’s baby news and, as soon as Mrs Horner made her big announcement, Mel B unfollowed her on Instagram.
But things are still not great with Mel B.
Geri announced she was expecting her second child last week and Mel said it’s made the girls realise what’s really important.

Mel has decided not to join the group for their upcoming reunion shows, no matter how lucrative the offer is.
Mel C has opened up about her battles with depression and eating disorders during her days in the Spice Girls. Speaking to Event magazine, the former Sporty Spice said that sometimes she couldn't even look at herself in the mirror during her heyday with the group, because of the constant scrutiny she was under.

“When the Spice Girls were at their biggest, I couldn’t even really look at myself in the mirror because I didn’t like what I saw,” Mel admitted. “I never said anything to anyone. I was trying to hide everything from myself.
Many viewers were left wondering whether Geri had always spoken in the Queen's English as she triumphed in the charity TV show.
Geri Halliwell emerged victorious in the ‘Sport Relief Bake Off’ final last night – but many viewers were more interested in the former Spice Girl’s accent, mocking her for her “cut-glass” pronunciation.
The 43 year old pop star, whose given surname is now Horner after marrying Formula One boss Christian Horner, impressed Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry with her Mediterranean tart and chocolate tray bake and was duly named the winner of the charity spin-off baking contest, but Twitter users found her use of a “fake posh voice” to be rather distracting.
Horner grew up on a council estate in North Watford, and during her Spice Girls years she was famous for her brash, ‘ladette’ image. However, throughout Wednesday night’s final, many felt she was putting on airs and graces.
The star-studded version of 'Gogglebox' is part of a special night of shows on Channel 4 designed to raise money for charity.
As part of a night of one-off programming tonight (Friday October 9th) in order to raise money and awareness for the charitable organisation Stand Up To Cancer, a star-studded line-up will be sitting in front of their televisions for a night in and commenting on the week’s shows.
She's promoting her first solo album in ten years, but the hosts wanted to know more about the rumoured reunion.
The much-rumoured Spice Girls 20th anniversary reunion might be back on the cards as Geri Halliwell confirmed that the girl group has been in “talks” about getting back together for a brief celebratory tour.
Halliwell, 43, appeared on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ on Tuesday (September 8th) when she was asked whether the group had any plans to mark two decades since their first single and album next year. She responded cautiously, admitting that her band-mates Emma Bunton, Mel B and Mel C had been in preliminary discussions about reuniting (Victoria Beckham is already believed to have turned down the possibility).
However, she didn’t want to get fans’ hopes up unnecessarily as nothing had been set in stone yet. “I think it's really faltering that people are still supportive of the Spice Girls individually and collectively, that's beautiful, it's really nice. It almost feels you know that it [the Spice Girls] belongs to everyone, like a generation.”

The Sun had broken a story on Friday morning of an imminent Spice Girls reformation for their 20th anniversary next year.
Bunton, a.k.a. Baby Spice, was responding to an article on Friday (August 7th) in The Sun which claimed that the most successful girl group in pop history would be reuniting for its 20th anniversary with an international tour next year, but without Victoria Beckham.
Just a few hours later, she seemed to put a dampener on those rumours on her Heart London breakfast radio show. “If anything happens and it’s concrete, and we decide on something, I will let you know, but nothing’s happening at the moment,” she said.

Can you believe it’s been 20 years since the Spice Girls released ‘Wannabe’?
It’s been nearly 20 years since the Spice Girls burst onto the pop music scene and changed the game forever with their debut single ‘Wannabe’. Now with their special anniversary approaching former band member and ‘America’s Got Talent Judge’ Mel B (aka Scary Spice) has been talking about the possibility of reunion to celebrate the group’s landmark anniversary.
Mel B has been speaking about a possible Spice Girls reunion.
"When you say it's our 20th anniversary, it makes you think oh gosh it really has been that long,” she said during an appearance on the 'Today Show', Thursday to promote her role as a a judge on America's Got Talent.
It was Geri’s big day on Friday, but where were her former bandmates?
Former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell finally said ‘I Do’ yesterday, in a lavish ceremony at the historic Woburn Abbey in Bedfordshire. The pop star married Formula One team boss Christian Horner in front of a host of famous faces and at the recepition she even indulged in a solo rendition of Spice Girls hit ‘Wannabe’. But why was Emma Bunton the only ex-Spice Girl in attendance?
Geri and Christian after saying 'I do'.
Sporty Spice Mel C failed to make Geri’s big day thanks to her job on the other side of the world. The singer was unable to make it back it back in time for the ceremony after appearing as a judge on 'Asia's Got Talent' which aired it’s finale espied on May 14th.
Four songs recorded in 2000 emerged on SoundCloud on Wednesday, before being removed less than 24 hours later.
The internet briefly went into meltdown on Wednesday as four previously unreleased Spice Girls songs appeared online, only to be taken down early on Thursday morning.
The songs are believed to have been recorded at the same time as their third and final studio album Forever, which was released in 2000. Their titles are ‘A Day In Your Life’, ‘Pain Proof’, ‘If It’s Lovin’ Your On Mind’ and ‘Right Back At Ya’. The last of these is an alternative version of the one that actually appeared on Forever.
