Both actors appeared in the first 1984 movie and its 1989 sequel, with Hudson as one of the actual Ghostbusters and Potts as the crew's receptionist - and according to multiple reports they have been recruited for the all-female instalment in the franchise, which features Kristen Wiig, Melissa MCCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate MCKinnon.

It is unknown whether Hudson will reprise his role as Winston Zeddemore, but sources tell the Boston Herald Potts will play a hotel clerk.

It was previously announced that Thor hunk Chris Hemsworth will take over the role of the receptionist at Ghostbuster headquarters.

Hudson and Potts join former co-stars Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray, who have also filmed cameos for the movie.

The Ghostbusters revamp is slated to hit cinemas in July, 2016.
