Longtime festival boss Michael Eavis stunned revellers by announcing the celebrated Tibetan monk would be gracing the stage at the festival in Somerset, England on Sunday (28Jun15), joining a line-up which also features Kanye West, The Who and Florence +The MAChine.

However, Eavis and his team have incurred the wrath of officials in China, who view the Dalai Lama as a dangerous rebel, and they have issued a stern warning to festival bosses.

China's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Lu Kang says of the Glastonbury booking, "China resolutely opposes any country, organisation, body or individual giving any kind of platform to the 14th Dalai Lama to engage in anti-China splittist (sic) activities."
