Carlos Santana Says His Comments About Beyonce Were "Taken Out Of Context"

Beyonce Knowles Carlos Santana Adele Grammy Awards

Guitar legend Carlos Santana has sought to clarify his comments about Beyonce’s defeat to Adele at last weekend’s Grammy Awards, saying that his remark that Bey was “not a singer” was “regretfully taken out of context”.

In an interview with the Australian Associated Press earlier this week, the 69 year old guitarist was asked about his thoughts on Adele’s controversial victories over Beyonce in several of the top categories at Sunday’s Grammys.

Did Rihanna Really Throw Shade At Beyonce With Lipgloss At The Grammys?

Rihanna Beyonce Knowles Grammy Awards

In amid the annual music industry bunfight that is the Grammy Awards last night, social media went wild after a few eagle-eyed viewers thought Rihanna shaded Beyonce as she lost out to her for Best Urban Contemporary Album award by disinterestedly applying lip gloss as Bey’s name was read out.

Surprising, as they’re both among the most loved female pop stars in the world at this moment in time and not normally associated with petty spats with other celebs.

Metallica teamed up with the phenomenally talented Chinese pianist Lang Lang at the 56th annual Grammy Awards on Sunday (January 26, 2013). It was a strange collaboration on paper, though offered a brooding intensity to the band's classic song One. Check out Metallica and Lang Lang.

Taylor Swift Grammy Awards

Taylor Swift's Grammys 2014 probably wasn't one for her scrapbook. The country-pop star failed to land the award for best country album - losing out to Kacey Musgrave's Same Trailer Different Park - and was then spotted mistakenly half-celebrating a win in the Best Album category before realising the successful recipient was actually RRRRRandom Access Memories by Daft Punk and not RRRRRed, but Taylor Swift.

Quite why young Swifty thought she'd won the evening's top award after her record failed to win in its genre is beyond us, though then again, the surprise on her and her various label executives' faces said it all.

Was Adele Telling Chris Brown Off? She Tweets The Truth

Adele Chris Brown Rihanna Beyonce Knowles Katy Perry Jennifer Lopez Grammy Awards

While some bands got some awards and gave some speeches, the real essence of The Grammys could be found elsewhere. What? You might ask; celebrity gossip of course! And what could be better than British powerhouse singer Adele telling Chris Brown off... or did she?

The photo certainly suggest she was giving him an earful for not awarding Frank Ocean with a standing ovation, which everyone else did, or for beating up Rihanna all those years ago. Adele looks like she's shouting, and Brown looks on the defensive, but that's not really the way it panned out. "Chris Brown and I were complimenting each other in that photo actually!" tweeted the Skyfall singer and Oscar nominee, confirming that a war of words didn't, in fact, take place. Adele, bless her, seemed star struck herself. And this is a 9-time Grammy award-winning artist! She was prancing around grabbing pictures with all the A-listers, including Beyonce, Rihanna, Katy Perry, and of course, the controversial Mr. Brown.

There was one person she didn't get a picture with though, and that was Ukrainian TV prankster Vitalii Sediuk, who climbed up when the Brit singer won Best Pop Solo Performance and said: "It's such an honour to receive this award" Jennifer Lopez sorted him out, and he ended up spending a night in jail. Worth it? Probably.

Reef-anna! Chris Brown And Rihanna On Post-Grammys Pot Binge?

Chris Brown Rihanna Grammy Awards

Chris Brown is already having a bad influence on Rihanna, since they’ve got back together – or is it the other way round? Either way, the controversial couple sure knew how to get tongues wagging at the Grammys at the weekend, with the pair reportedly celebrating the evening by lighting up a marijuana joint and having a smoke at the music event’s after party.

Of course, Chris Brown and Rihanna were making Grammys headlines four years ago for even darker reasons, when it was revealed that Brown had physically assaulted the pop star in their car. Despite the consternation of the rest of the world, though, the pair have managed to reconcile and are, as we understand it, back in a relationship together. TMZ reports that Rihanna won the seventh Grammy of her career and subsequently decided to pop back to an afterparty at the Supperclub in Los Angeles with Brown in tow. Sources say the venue was acrid with the smell of pot smoke.

The pair were spotted leaving the party at about 3:20am in the morning, with Brown driving – slightly worrying if they were wasted as TMZ’s sources claimed they are. And of course, we all know what happened last time they were together in a car around the time of the Grammys...

Carrie Underwood Opens Up About Her ‘Feud’ With Taylor Swift

Carrie Underwood Taylor Swift Gayle King Grammy Awards

Ahead of the Grammys awards on Sunday, speculation was rife that Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood had made it very, very clear that they didn’t intend to sit anywhere near each other inside the Staples Center. “Taylor feels Carrie is always rude to her, so she steers clear of her,” a source recently told Us Weekly. So was it true? Were the two biggest names in country music really at each other’s throats?

Not according to Underwood.

The 29-year-old Grammy winner was quizzed on the apparent feud by Gayle King for a CBS This Morning interview (set to air Wednesday), saying, “No [there’s no feud], not that I know of at least.” Somewhat ironically, Carrie said she was a big fan of Swift, even revealing which song is her favorite. “I really like ‘I Knew You Were Trouble.’ It sounded a lot different for her. I liked the branching out, trying some different sounds,” she told King.

A Week In Music - My Bloody Valentine Make Victorious Return, Mumford And Sons Take Home Top Grammy Award

Unknown Mortal Orchestra Press Shot

A Week in Videos...The popularity of Unknown Mortal Orchestra has been on a slow burning rise for some months now. Taken from their forthcoming second album, helpfully entitled II, ‘So Good At Being In Trouble’ sees the band in a particularly catchy mode, a lilting melody lifting the trademark stoner vibe. The video features the actor Christopher Mintz-Plasse (you’ll know him as McLovin’ from the movie Superbad) causing a scene and trying to snatch a hippy from a scene that could well be set in a 1960s era Venice Beach.

In this video, Nina Simone talks about freedom and love, before the film cuts to a grainy performance of her performing ‘I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free.’ One of music’s legendary performers, Simone’s rendition of the song showcases her warm and passionate vocal. On the subject of freedom, Simone insists that she couldn’t possibly describe how it feels to be free, just as much as its impossible to describe the feeling of being in love. To hear her perform the track, though, you get just a glimpse of what freedom might feel like.

Carrie Underwood Lights Up The Night In Stunning Gown At The Grammys

Carrie Underwood Grammy Awards

To say a person or performer lights up a room is often merely a turn of phrase, but when it comes to Carrie Underwood, it is meant in the most literal of senses. Her sensational performance at the 55th Grammy Awards last night in Los Angeles was given something extra by her extraordinary dress which acted as a screen for which to project a variety of beautiful light imagery onto.

Underwood proved that her win for Best Country Solo Performance was well deserved as she sang 'Blown Away', the track for which she won the award. The incredible Theia couture gown was adorned with roses, butterflies and more abstract shapes as the song went on. The singer had to stand perfectly still for the effect to work, which she managed to do effortlessly.

As the Daily Mail reports, the dress was designed by four people and took 80 hours to make. With hand embroidered Swarovski crystal detailing, and 10 yards of satin, it was managed to bridge the gap between fashion and technology. And despite it being difficult to tear your eyes away from the dress during her performance, that was part of the effect. "There are so many big performances at the Grammys and sometimes I like to just stand still and perform," she said. "So (the dress) was the best way to do it, to create a cool environment."

Biting His Nails? Frank Ocean Admits To Being Very Nervous Ahead Of Grammy Awards

Grammy Awards Frank Ocean M83 Elton John Ed Sheeran Justin Timberlake

Frank Ocean appeared at the pre-Grammy party in Los Angeles on Friday, where he admitted to being incredibly nervous about the coming awards themselves, Billboard reports.

Performing a 6 song set at the Ace Museum in Los Angeles, Frank Ocean told the audience: "So it's officially Grammy weekend, which is probably not a big deal for everyone... But it makes me nervous as f**k." With 6 nominations including for Album of the Year, Record of the Year and Best New Artist Ocean's got nothing to be nervous about. Especially with Channel Orange being such a strong contender.

Esteemed guests to the show included Busy Phillipps, Alan Cummings, Ashley Benson and Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda, and were all equal to the average joes in the audience, as they were treated to renditions of  "Crack Rock," "Monks", "American Wedding", "Sierra Leone," "Thinkin' Bout You," and "Pyramids."

Where Does Your Favourite Music Come From? Song Writers B.O.B, Busta Rhymes, Luke Laird And Snoop Dogg Chat On Stage About Influences

Snoop Dogg Busta Rhymes Grammy Awards

BMI's annual pre-Grammy Awards songwriter's panel, "How I Wrote That Song", was an interesting meeting of minds, made somewhat more interesting by Snoop blazing up a blunt.

Often, what makes a song popular is its relatability: how well its audience can relate to the sentiments within. However, it never fails to be fascinating to find out where those lyrics, the ones that make us laugh, cry, and vent any other variety of emotions that they evoke, came from originally. Every year, BMI hosts a panel of some of pop, R&B and rock's most successful song writers to talk about the origins of the music they write. This year's panel was made up of Snoop Dogg, Luke Laird, B.O.B., Evan Bogart and Busta Rhymes.

Clearly, there was something of a hip-hop bias while compiling the panel, but that worked to its merit. In fact, as Billboard reports, one of country music song-writer Luke Laird's influences was Snoop's pre-eminent album 'The Chronic'. Growing up in the country, in a town with a population of just 700, you'd not think that hip-hop would be a the genre of choice. However, as he said: "Let me just say, the album everyone was listening to was 'The Chronic.'"

55th Grammys Preview: 'Music's Biggest Night' Wont Fail To Impress

Grammy Awards Beyonce Knowles Prince Taylor Swift Maroon 5 Kelly Clarkson Florence and the Machine Frank Ocean Alicia Keys Elton John Ed Sheeran Bruno Mars Sting Jennifer Lopez Rihanna Justin Timberlake Justin Bieber Mumford And Sons Fun Black Keys Jack White

Annually, the Grammys is one of the biggest events for music across America and in Europe. In fact, it has dubbed itself 'music's biggest night'. Celebrating the best in pop, hiphop, soul, R&B and much of what comes in between, it never fails to be a veritable who's who from the Spotify playlists of the masses. And this year will be no different. Not only are the nominees ones to look out for, absences are worthy of note, as are this year's presenters and some very special performances.

As Yahoo report, this year's presenters include Grammy royalty, Prince, Beyonce, and Jennifer Lopez, all of whom have been nominated or won Grammys before.

In terms of performances to look forward to, this year we have some unusual and largely unexpected pair ups. Elton John and Ed Sheeran will take to the stage together. An unusual pairing, they're both Brits with unusual song writing talent. While John is a true showman and is well known for his intereSting outfits and outrageous glasses, Sheeran is distinctly more low key. We're not sure how this is going to work, but we're guessing it'll be great. Bruno Mars, Sting and Rihanna will all also perform together, as will Alicia Keys and Maroon 5, and Dierks Bentley and Miranda Lambert.
