Nominations for the Grammy Awards will be revealed tonight in the US (November 30th 2011) with anticipation high as to whose going to make it into the shortlist for the event's 54th award ceremony taking place on February 12th 2012. Of course to predict who might be in the reckoning this evening you need to look no further than whose been taking up the most column inches over the past few months, the Grammys primarily focusing on the big names that have crossed over on a huge level commercially as well as critically.
With that in mind it would be no surprise to see British sensation Adele leading the way; the 23 year-old may have had her year curtailed somewhat after being forced to undergo an operation on her throat, but the success of her second album '21' spoke volumes, going four times platinum in the US upon topping the Billboard chart and spawning the single 'Rolling In The Deep' which went platinum five times on its way to the top of the charts.
Other strong contenders for some of the big awards - which include 'Album Of The Year', 'Record Of The Year', 'Song Of The Year' and 'Best New Artist' - include Lady GaGa, whose third album 'Born This Way' has gone on to sell some 8 million copies worldwide as the star wrapped up her gigantic two year 'Monster's Ball' tour this May. Others in with a shout may be Katy Perry for her hit 'Firework' while Rihanna, Upher and Taylor Swift will also fancy their chances. One award already confirmed is 'The Message' by Grandmaster Flash's induction into the Grammy Award Hall of Fame, reports CBS.
