The nephew of hospitalised Guru has hit out at the rapper's pal MC SOLAR for preventing the ailing star from seeing his family.
The 43 year old, real name Keith Elam, has been under doctors' care at a New York hospital since suffering a heart attack on Sunday (28Feb10). He underwent surgery on Monday (01Mar10) and issued a statement on Wednesday (03Mar10) to assure fans he was "fine" but "weak" after the operation.
He also asked his devotees to ignore all other reports about his heart troubles, insisting, "Solar is the only person who has the accurate info on my situation. Any info from anybody else is false!"
But Guru's nephew, Justin Nicholas-Elam Ruff, has taken aim at Solar, claiming Guru's own mother has been banned from visiting her son in hospital as he battles for his health. He also accuses Solar of keeping the news of an earlier hospitalisation secret until the rapper was rushed to hospital at the weekend.
In a webcast, Ruff says, "After Guru fell ill for reasons I will not disclose, he was checked into a New York hospital Tuesday, February 2, 2010.
"Guru's family was not notified of this until Friday, February 16, 2010. That means that two weeks went by before my family was notified by Solar that Guru was in the hospital."
Ruff alleges Guru's whole family has now stopped receiving updates on his condition. He continues, "Since the information (about Guru's heart attack) leaked, Solar has completely cut us off. My family has no way of knowing what is going on with Guru's situation," Ruff stated. "Solar has complete control over the flow of information given from the hospital, and will not disclose any information with us. The doctors and staff won't discuss any information with Guru's family...
"My uncle Guru is in a serious state of health right now. It's the family's right to know his status. I know Solar has been his right hand man for the last 6 years, but that does not give him the right to make decisions on whether or not the family gets to see Guru, or learn about his status. The fact that he is acting like this lets me know he does not have Guru's best interest in mind."
