The Happy Mondays and The Farm kicked off the 2013 Isle of Wight Festival in the U.K. on Friday (14Jun13) on a sunny day that could not have been more different to last year's (12) launch chaos.

Driving rain and traffic problems turned the event into a nightmare a year ago - and the festival made international headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Organisers were hoping for better weather as this year's weekend event got underway.

Thousands of music lovers have hit the festival site at Seaclose Park in Newport on Friday, ready for headlining sets from the Stone Roses, The Killers and Bon Jovi.

Paul Weller, Emeli Sande, Blondie, Ellie Goulding, Rizzle Kicks and Bob Geldof's Boomtown Rats are also billed to perform over the weekend (14-16Jun13).
