Harry Potter star Bonnie Wright has jetted off to Senegal to raise awareness of the ongoing food crisis in Africa.
The actress landed in the west African country on Sunday (22Jul12) to begin her charity trip, which is being sponsored by aid organisation Oxfam International.
During her visit, Wright will meet with victims of the hunger crisis across the Sahel region and share her experiences with fans to help underscore the need for increased aid.
In posts on her Twitter.com page, the Brit writes, "I will be tweeting daily about my trip highlighting the Sahel 2012 food crisis... After a quick night sleep in Dakar we set off South for a 10-hr (hour) car ride. Tho (though) tired my eyes are wide open following the journey!"
At least 18 million people are at risk of severe food shortages in Burkina Faso, Mauritania, Niger, Chad, Mali, and Senegal.
