'The Leftovers' Executive Producer Damon Lindelof Discusses Series' Final Season

HBO Damon Lindelof

Following a small community sent into shock by the disappearance of 100 people, 'The Leftovers' has entertained audiences for two seasons now, with series lead Justin Theroux as Kevin Garvey. From Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta - the latter of whom wrote the novel of the same name - fans of the show were a little disappointed to discover that the third season would be the series' final outing.

Still, in knowing that their show would be coming to an end, Lindelof and Perrotta have been given the chance to give the series an ending they would be proud of. It's always a pain for writers when their creations are cancelled without being allowed to bring a definitive end to their series, so at least this isn't something that has happened here.

'Game Of Thrones' Is The Most Pirated Show Of 2016

HBO

In what must have come as a shock to precisely nobody, it was revealed that ‘Game of Thrones’ was the most pirated show of 2016 – a title it has held for the fifth consecutive year.

Despite its massive and continued popularity, the HBO fantasy show has still attracted the attention of illegal streamers and downloaders more than any other television series throughout 2016, and was the most downloaded show on BitTorrent, in data compiled from a number of sources by torrent-tracking site TorrentFreak.

Impressively (but not for the show’s makers) ‘Game of Thrones’ has held this dubious distinction since 2012, and the interest in the series displays no sign of abating.

‘Game of Thrones’ star Emilia Clarke has recently been making her views about on-screen nudity very clear indeed – she wants to see more balance between the sexes and the amount of time they have to spend nude in the front of the camera.

The 29 year old British star, who is set to reprise her role as Daenerys Targaryen in the HBO fantasy series when the sixth season returns later this month, appeared on ‘The Late Late Show’ and explained her point of view to host James Corden in a campaign becoming known as #FreeTheP.

Game Of Thrones’ star Emilia Clarke has promised that the sixth season of the medieval fantasy drama will be bigger and more exciting than ever before, but revealed that filming it “legitimately almost killed” the cast and crew.

The HBO series will be returning at the end of April, with Clarke starring once again as Daenerys ‘Mother of Dragons’ Targaryen, in the next adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s series of epic novels. The plotlines are probably the most closely guarded secret in the entertainment industry at the moment, particularly as the timeline will overtake where Martin has actually gotten to with his books.

The stars stepped out onto the red carpet for one of the glitziest ceremonies of awards season: the Creative Primetime Emmys.

Having previously won for NBC's political drama 'The West Wing' as White House press secretary C.J. Cregg, Allison Janney’s award for outstanding guest actress in a drama series for her role in Masters of Sex, which also stars Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan, was a particular highlight.

Backstage, Janney highlighted that playing Margeret Scully was certainly challenging at times. "I felt that Margaret Scully challenged me in ways that I've never been challenged before as an actress on so many levels - on an emotional level, on a physical level - and having to do sex scenes was extraordinarily nerve-wracking and stressful for me and something that I didn't think I'd have to do at this age, frankly," she explained.

Lily Allen Cites Light Incest As Reason For Turning Down Game Of Thrones - Fair Enough

Lily Allen Alfie Allen HBO

Many were baffled when it turned out Lily Allen didn’t want to act in Game of Thrones. Everybody wants to act in Game of Thrones, it’s Game of Thrones, people probably said. But when you listen to Allen’s reasoning behind turning down the role, you’ll probably develop some sympathy for the decision.

Lily AllenLily Allen didn't fancy what HBO had in mind

“I’ve been asked to do a Game of Thrones cameo, they asked me if I’d be interested in playing Theon’s sister, and I felt uncomfortable because I would have had to go on a horse and he would have touched me up and s***,” Allen wrote in response to a question on a Reddit AMA. “Once they told me what was entailed, I said no thanks. I would be open to doing a musical cameo like Sigur Ros, though.”

"Game Of Thrones" Season 4 Episode 5 Recap: "Last Of His Name"

The Simpsons: So, Who's Going To Die In Upcoming 'Yellow Wedding'?

The Simpsons Al Jean HBO

The Simpsons are reverting to a trick increasingly adopted by TV shows nowadays: killing major characters off. Game of Thrones have a roundabout cull every so often to keep the masses enthralled (don’t kill me because I don’t like Game of Thrones – I think it’s silly and prefer The Wire) and Family Guy took down Bryan recently, only to resurrect him and gain a ratings boost in the process.

The Simpsons

The Simpsons’ "Yellow Wedding" not only confirms Game of Thrones’ entrance into the official zeitgeist (a thing isn’t a thing until Homer’s involved) but it also means the show will incur a death; a major death. It will be "an even bigger deal" than the Red or Purple Weddings that have appeared in HBO’s fantasy melodrama. Seriously, I’m allowed not to like it.

At the risk of sounding like official paid editorial for the popular streaming service, the Netflix cable companies making it into a ‘real TV channel’ have now made it so easy to find their content, it’s becoming another word for the medium, like when people started saying iPhone and iPod instead of phone and mp3 player.

Curb Your Enthusiasm (For Smashing Up Cars) Jeff Garlin Is Arrested!

Jeff Garlin Larry David HBO

Curb Your Enthusiasm star Jeff Garlin has been arrested for allegedly smashing a couple's car window following a heated argument over a parking space in Los Angeles. The 51-year-old actor, who plays Larry David's long-serving manager in the classic comedy show, was arrested for felony vandalism in Studio City at around 3pm on Saturday (June 16, 2013).

Sources tell TMZ.com that Garlin got into a verbal fight with another person over a parking space, though things quickly became violent and the actor allegedly smashed the windows of the other person's Mercedes Benz. Cops were called to the scene and Garlin was arrested before being released from jail as of Sunday morning (June 16).

Ok so it's never funny when people's car windows get smashed in (no, not even Mercedes drivers) but this one sounds like a scene straight from Curb Your Enthusiasm. Surely Larry jumped out of Garlin's car and tried to placate the situation before accidentally suggesting it was a racially motivated attack? Surely?

Lena Dunham On Board For Betty Halbreich Based Comedy HBO Show

Lena Dunham HBO

If she wasn't already busy enough Lena Dunham is allegedly on board to help write the screenplay for personal shopper Betty Halbreich's autobiography, All Dressed Up and Nowhere to Go, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Dunham isn't exactly known for her impeccable fashion style, but her writing style sets her apart from the rest of the flock, by a long way. Halbreich's career saw her dress the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, Meryl Streep, Joan Rivers and Estee Lauder, as well as being a consultant on Sex and the City, which is iconic for Carrie's outlandish but brilliant wardrobe seen throughout the series and movies. Given Halbreich's own very quirky styling, and the invetibly brilliant anecdotes that are certainly part and parcel of her line of work, at first glance her autobiography would make great comedy viewing, and Dunham is the girl to make it so.

She'll be teaming up with Jenni Konner, who is a producer on Dunham's show Girls - which just won two Golden Globe awards for Best comedy and Best Actress (Dunham). HBO had already purchased the rights to Halbreich's book which documents her time at Bergdorf, a department store in NYC, and its high society clients. A movie about fashion could be as vacuous as its subject often seems, but with such an interesting central character and Dunham with the reins, it certainly has a chance of being great.

Alleged HBO Coverup: Woman Sacked For Exposing Horse Abuse On 'Luck'

HBO Dustin Hoffman

In March of last year 'Luck', a show about horse racing starring Dustin Hoffman, was cancelled amid a scandal surrounding the treatment of the horses that appeared on the show. Now, HBO - the network upon which the show was seen - is being sued by an ex-employee of the American Humane Association for the treatment of the horses, as well as the AHA wrongful termination after she was sacked.

As the Hollywood Reporter writes, Barbara Casey claims that "the AHA observed drugged horses, underweight and/or sick horses routinely used for work on the show, the misidentification of horses by producers so that animal safety reps couldn't track their medical histories". Despite the deaths of four horses, both HBO and the AHA claimed no horses were harmed. Eventually, though, the show was cancelled in the light of the complaints. One in particular was from PETA. HBO's statement read: "We took every precaution to ensure that our horses were treated humanely and with the utmost care, exceeding every safeguard of all protocols and guidelines required of the production. Barbara Casey was not an employee of HBO, and any questions regarding her employment should be directed to the AHA."

Casey also claims that "AHA bowed to political and financial pressure and... engaged in efforts to conceal and cover up the production defendants' criminal activities."
