The play won critical acclaim and sold out for its six-month stint in London last year. It is a composition of Morgan's imagined conversations between The Queen and her various advisors and ministers. Morgan had previously penned the hugely successful movie Frost/Nixon, outlining the aftermath of the Watergate Scandal.

The Audience will play at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre in New York City from February to June 2015.
Mirren is currently shooting Simon Curtis' drama Woman in Gold, about Maria Altmann, an Octogenarian Jewish refugee who takes on the government to recover artwork she believes rightfully belongs to her family. Ryan Reynolds co-stars in the film, set for a 2015 release.
