Biography

Holly Willoughby (born 10.2.1981) Holly Willoughby is a British TV presenter and model. She has presented a number of high-profile TV shows in the UK, such as CD:UK and This Morning.

Childhood: Holly Willoughby was raised in Sussex, attending Burgess Hill School for Girls and The College of Richard Collyer in Horsham.

At the age of 14, she was spotted by talent scouts at The Clothes Show Live exhibition and was shortly signed up by Storm Model Management. She appeared in a number of teen magazines, such as Mizz, Just Seventeen and More! Then, from the age of 17, she started modelling underwear for brands such as Pretty Polly, appearing in a number of posters and magazine adverts.

Career: In 2000, Holly Willoughby auditioned for S Club TV, a show on CITV, featuring the pop band S Club 7. After appearing in that show, as well as a follow up called S Club: Artistic Differences, she worked for a while as a receptionist for the shopping channel Auction World TV.

Willoughby then asked a friend to help her make a show reel, which eventually landed her with an agent, who contacted the BBC. As a result of this connection, she went on to present a programme called XChange. She went on to host other children's shows for CBBC, such as X-perimental and CBBC at the Fame Academy).

Willoughby's real breakthrough in TV presenting came in 2004, when she re-signed with CITV and presented Ministry of Mayhem, with Stephen Mulhern and Michael Underwood. The title of the show was later changed to Holly & Stephen's Saturday Showdown, to reflect Willoughby and Mulhern's popularity.

In 2005, Willoughby presented Feel the Fear, a kids' entertainment programme, in which she and co-presenter Steve Wilson were set a number of unnerving challenges.

Later in 2005, Holly Willoughby presented the music show CD:UK for while. She replaced Cat Deeley in the interim before Myleene Klass became a regular on the show. Willoughby then went on to co-present Dancing on Ice with Phillip Schofield. In January 2011, she stepped down from the role, as she had other work commitments.

Among the other shows that she has presented for ITV include The Xtra Factor, The X Factor spin-off show as well as Lip Service and Celebrity juice, with Keith Lemon and Fearne Cotton. She took over from Davina McCall in 2007 as the presenter of Streetmate.

Since September 2009, Holly Willoughby took over from Fern Britton to co-present This Morning with Phillip Schofield, the weekday morning chat and feature show.

In November 2011, Willoughby announced that she would be presenting The Voice UK - a singing contest - with the BBC Radio One DJ Reggie Yates.

Personal Life: In August 2007, Holly Willoughby married Dan Baldwin, whom she met whilst working on Ministry of Mayhem. They have two children together: a son named Harry (b. 2009) and a daughter, Belle (b. 2011)

She is close friends with the TV presenter and radio DJ Fearne Cotton.

Is Holly Willoughby's Short Skirt Controversy Another Example Of TV Sexism?

Holly Willoughby

Apparently style of dress becomes more appropriate as the day wears on, because Holly Willoughby's painstakingly selected skirt was dubbed too short for daytime TV ahead of her appearance on 'This Morning'. Just when you thought the world was moving on from sexist ideas.

The 37-year-old presenter had chosen a checked mini with a ruffled front teamed with white ankle boots and a navy turtleneck; ultra stylish as usual. But, unfortunately, that's not the look that viewers saw on the following show as stylist Angie Smith was forced to re-jig the outfit.

Holly Willoughby Slams BRIT Awards Paparazzi For 'Upskirting' Shots

Holly Willoughby Brit Awards

Holly Willoughby launched into a furious condemnation of paparazzi tactics yesterday, the day after she and a number of other female celebrities were pictured attempting to protect their modesty as they left the Brit Awards.

The 37 year old ‘This Morning’ presenter took to Instagram on Thursday (February 22nd), the day after the annual music awards bash in London, and bemoaned that “time’s apparently up” for Time’s Up, the much publicised campaign for gender equality.

“At the beginning of the night we held white roses and walked down a red carpet full of the hope and pride that comes with the #timesup campaign,” she wrote, captioning a photo montage of herself, Rita Ora, Louise Redknapp and Abbey Clancy all getting into cars and attempting to shield themselves against the intrusions of cameras held low to the floor.

Holly Willoughby Reveals She Was Judged For Her Looks In Early Career

Holly Willoughby

She’s one of the most successful women in television in 2017, but presenter Holly Willoughby has spoken about the judgement she received for her appearance early on in her career.

Currently a co-host of ITV’s ‘This Morning’ with Philip Schofield, Willoughby began her career in children’s television before landing more mainstream gigs on ‘Dancing On Ice’ and ‘The Xtra Factor’. However, she revealed that she was often judged for her looks when she was making her name back then.

Speaking during filming for ‘The Jonathan Ross Show’ – the broadcast of which will go out this weekend (Saturday September 30th), Willoughby said: “I think I have it less now, I think when I started out I did because a lot of people look at the blonde hair and this and that and the other and have a massive judgement on you.

Holly Willoughby Gets £200k Pay Rise To Close Gender Pay Gap

Holly Willoughby Phillip Schofield

Holly Willoughby has reportedly netted a £200,000 per annum pay increase from ITV, after recent claims asserted that she was earning nearly a third less for her work on ‘This Morning’ than her male co-host, Philip Schofield.

She and Philip have been working together on ‘This Morning’ for eight years now, but the latest reports suggested that she had been earning significantly less than Schofield for all this time - £400k to his £600k.

The pair are currently negotiating salaries with ITV to host the upcoming re-booted series of ‘Dancing On Ice’, but the network realised they would be unable to pay both of them equally if they continued to pay Willoughby less for her work on ‘This Morning’, according to sources.
