Huey And The New Yorkers Announce Their First Ever UK Tour And New Single 'The Way It Was Before'

Having blown the roof off London's Bush Hall in November of last year, Huey And The New Yorkers hit the road in March 2013 playing intimate venues across the UK and beyond.

Fun Lovin' Criminals frontman and award winning BBC Radio DJ Huey Morgan announces the 'March In Your Face' tour, the first full UK tour with new band Huey and the New Yorkers since releasing the debut album 'Say It To My Face'.

Morgan is a rock 'n' roll Renaissance Man, the half Puerto Rican / Irish ex-Marine who, since moving to London in the mid-2000s, has become a charismatic presence across the UK's cultural spectrum - one of Britain's' best loved radio DJs (on both BBC 6 Music and the mighty Radio 2), winner of a Sony Radio Award too and already multi-million selling as part of the legendary - Fun Lovin' Criminals, a unique ground breaking rock and soul band that found influences in hip hop, swing, blues and funk. Huey Morgan, force of nature, a man with a paid-for Scottish Lordship (possibly fake), is a long way, now, from the Ladies Man who twinkled his wise-guy way through his incorrigibly Fun Lovin' 90s.

In a sabbatical from FLC, the music of Huey and the New Yorkers is drenched with the same omnipresent effortless cool of Morgan's famous gritty vocal style and deft blues licks, with the new group more abundantly exhibiting the roots and soul influences that Huey has become celebrated for sharing on his BBC Radio show.

The New Yorkers is a virtuosic super group of Huey's dearest friends from the New York blues scene - with whom Huey would often be found playing impromptu lapsteel guitar in a smoke filled club as 'The Tangiers Blues Band' - comprising of Chris Scianni (guitars), King (bass), Pete Levin (keys) and Frank Benbini (also of Fun Lovin' Criminals fame).

New double A-side single kicks off with 'The Way It Was Before' - complete with Tom Waits Closing Time-esque bar room piano and feel good drive-time bass - is a cathartic assessment of how times have changed. Ex US Marine Huey is admirably sentimental about his time in the military and has pledged his cut of record sales to military charities on both sides of the Atlantic. The profound impact military service has had on Huey is clear with his new work, not least with country opus 'Fall Into Me', the second A-side, which in-between beautiful slide guitar and sunset harmonies, reveals the importance of 'mail call' (when soldiers receive letters in the field).

Huey strongly intends to take the important message of servicemen welfare on the road with him; "we hope to visit as many hospitals, rehabilitation centres and places where we can play some music for the troops along the way". Family man Huey hasn't forgotten the importance of a good night out either; "A charity called Tickets For Troops will be given tickets to each concert to avail service people a chance for a great night out."
