DiCaprio, Johansson, Laurie: A Sneak Peak At Celebrity Auditions

Leonardo Dicaprio Scarlett Johansson Hugh Laurie Alyson Hannigan Brad Pitt Robert Downey Jr

TV and film superstars often don’t seem like real people. They live on a screen in our front room, or occasionally on a bigger screen in a bigger room if it’s a special occasion. They perform something funny, moving, sad or uplifting and then we, as the viewing public, go back to our daily lives and they continue to be these things that we can’t really associate with. Do they eat, drink, fight, burp, play and laugh like everyone else? Who can tell when the only time we see them is pouting on a red carpet in beautiful designer clothes that make them look unrealistically sensational?

Leonardo DiCaprio
Hollywood stars like Leonardo Dicaprio have to apply for their job just like all of his fans

While the everyday lifestyle of the average acting superstar may be but mere guesswork for us mortals, what we can conclude is that they have to interview for jobs just as much as the next person - and they have to do it on camera.

It's Sounds Of The 80s With Cox And Blues With Laurie On Radio 2 As Steve Lamacq Exits

Hugh Laurie Sarah Cox

As part of the shakeup at BBC Radio, Radio 2 has one of the corporation’s longest running broadcasters switching to a late night slot, Hugh Laurie hosting a blues show, and radio stalwart Steve Lamacq shoved out the door. He’ll retain his BBC 6 Music drivetime slot, though. As far as shakeups go, this isn’t very shaky.

Hugh Laurie Hugh Laurie was the highest paid actor in the U.S for House

Lewis Carnie, Radio 2's head of programmes, said: "I wanted to expand our big band programming but, with reduced funds across the BBC, we could no longer afford to commit to regular big band recordings. However, we are aware that our listeners love this kind of music, so we are giving our Sunday night audience an extended two hour session of the tunes they love from the broadest range of Big Band music."

Stephen Colbert Rails After Daft Punk Cancel 'The Colbert Report'

Daft Punk cancelled their appearance on The Colbert Report on Tuesday night, this was so they could make a surprise appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Unfortunately for the group, Stephen Colbert did not take the slight kindly. The comedian started to make puns at the electronica group's expense, he claimed he'd been "daft punk'd" and referred to the duo as "the artists formerly booked as Daft Punk."

Is Ashton Kutcher The Luckiest Man Alive?

Ashton Kutcher Mila Kunis Charlie Sheen Hugh Laurie Ray Romano

As many of us look forward to tomorrow, a Friday: the end of the working week and a chance to kick back with a vat of whatever numbs the pain, think of Ashton Kutcher - raking in $24m a year and spending it on the sexiest woman of the year.

That's right, according to Metro, the richest TV actor is enjoying some extra curricular activity with Esquires Sexiest Woman in the World, Mila Kunis. The facts suggest that he certainly is the luckiest man on earth. For some, it really is luck: with fancy houses growing up, the best education, the best contacts thanks to their parents jobs, but for Ashton, life wasn't so simple. All of his siblings had health problems of some such; his twin brother has cerebral palsy and his other brother had to have a heart transplant at a young age. And it's not as if Kutcher was the only family member to grow up untroubled. He attempted suicide at just 13-years of age. A tough home-life didn't put him off acting though, and he continued to become one of the most prominent actors today. Like him or loathe him, and many choose to loathe, but he's well and truly got himself to where he wants to be.

Following Kutcher, who overtook the erstwhile Two and a Half Men star Charlie Sheen in the richlist, were Hugh Laurie and Ray Romano, tied for second place at $18 million thanks to the syndication of "House" and "Everybody Loves Raymond.

Ashton Kutcher Takes Charlie Sheen's Job, And His Forbes No.1 Spot!

Ashton Kutcher Charlie Sheen Mila Kunis Hugh Laurie Ray Romano Alec Baldwin Mark Harmon

Ashton Kutcher has replaced Charlie Sheen yet again by taking his top spot on Forbes rich list, having only recently also taken his place on the hit CBS sitcom 'Two and a Half Men'.

Sheen isn't so 'bi-winning' anymore it seems, since Kutcher started raking in the glory. Not only has he got the lead role in one of the most popular sitcoms in the States, earning him a Teen Choice nomination already, but his earnings of $24 million since signing the show's contract has made him the Highest Paid TV Actor according to Forbes - not only that, but he is also reportedly dating his stunning 'That 70s Show' co-star Mila Kunis who, incidentally, came ninth on FHM's 100 Sexiest Women In The World 2012 list whereas Sheen appears to be, regrettably, single. And no longer super super rich like Ashton, as he didn't even make Forbes top 10 list in spite of the fact that last year he earned a whopping $40 million.

Forbes bigged up Kutcher even more when mentioning his business ventures: 'In addition to acting, Kutcher is an active Silicon Valley investor. He got in early on Skype, Spotify and Airbnb which is now worth $1 billion.' Also in the top five on the list were Hugh Laurie with $18 million, Ray Romano with $18 million, Alec Baldwin with $15 million and Mark Harmon, $15 million in respective second, third, fourth and fifth places.

Video - Hugh Laurie And Catherine Keener Are Surprised At 'The Oranges' Age Gap Shock

Hugh Laurie and Catherine Keener talk kissing and music during a press junket at New York's Crosby Hotel for their hilarious new movie 'The Oranges'. Hugh, 53, is asked why his onscreen kiss with 26-year-old Leighton Meester has been made into a 'big thing' in America. 'I don't know the answer to that not having seen the kiss itself', he said. 'Is it shocking?' But Catherine chimes in that she's used to seeing that kind of age gap in LA: 'It's pretty much the norm there.'

Arthur Christmas Trailer

Arthur Christmas is the clumsy youngest son of the famous Santa Claus. Together with his family, including his father, his cool older brother Steve, Santa's father Grandsanta and Santa's wife, Mrs. Santa, they run a top secret, highly state of the art operation beneath the North Pole, which helps Santa deliver every single Christmas present in one night around the globe and which cannot be seen by anyone else. It is a lengthy process, which sees Santa's team of elves - including a 'Gift Wrapping Battalion' who carry scissors and tape guns - training in the isolated Arctic during the summer by performing drills and practising their wrapping skills on unsuspecting polar bears. There is also a 'mission control' in which Santa and his team can see exactly how many days there are until Christmas and how many presents have been wrapped.

Very Good
What could have been a painfully childish animated Easter romp is given a shot of deranged humour and an above-average cast of voices and cameos. This makes it rather a lot more fun than expected.

Fred (Marsden) is a slacker whose parents (Cole and Perkins) finally force him out of the house. With some help from his sister (Cuoco), he gets a job interview and a mansion to housesit. But any promise is upended when he meets a talking rabbit named EB (voiced by Brand), who would rather be a rock drummer than follow his destiny as the Easter Bunny. Meanwhile on Easter Island, a disgruntled chick named Carlos (Azaria) is plotting a coup against EB's father (Laurie).

Street Kings Review

Good
Cops countermanding the law, using the close-knit nature of their badge to secretly settle scores on the street, have long since become a cinematic cliché. The police have gone from donut-munching jokes to felons in blue and black finery. From the decent beat officer taking bribes to buffer his paycheck, to the undercover operative in so deep he no longer remembers what side of society he's on, "to protect and serve" has been modified -- at least in the movies -- to "pervert and steal." Street Kings, the latest motion picture inspired by a story from James Ellroy (L.A. Confidential), dabbles freely in this kind of corrupt no man's land, and for the most part, it's a thrilling journey.

Alcoholic police detective Todd Ludlow (Keanu Reeves) has just finished wrapping up a notorious kidnapping case when Captain Jack Wander (Forest Whittaker) gives him the bad news. His ex-partner Terrence Washington (Terry Crews) is talking to Internal Affairs, and bureau head Captain James Biggs (Hugh Laurie) is looking to take Ludlow down. Before he can intimidate his former friend into not snitching, a pair of gang bangers kill him. Desperate to clear his own name in the death, Ludlow begins to investigate. Soon, he's linking the crime to a couple of local drug dealers who seem incapable of committing the hit. With Wander on his side and Biggs on his back, it will take all the street savvy he has to solve the case -- that is, if someone doesn't try and permanently stop him too.

Stuart Little Review

Weak

Fans of "Stuart Little," the classic E. B. White's children's book about a congenial little mouse with a wind-up red roadster, would be wise to avoid "Stuart Little," the mostly in-name-only big screen adaptation featuring Michael J. Fox's voice emanating from a computer-animated Stuart.

Nearly everything delightful about the book is erased or painted over here with near-plotless kiddie fare, predictably zany adventures and deliberately ham-fisted acting from a wildly talented cast (Geena Davis, Hugh Laurie, Jeffrey Jones, Allyce Beasley, Estelle Getty, Julia Sweeney), entirely wasted on a Saturday morning cartoon script.

Ironically co-written by M. Night Shyamalan (the writer-director of "The Sixth Sense"), the story opens with Mr. and Mrs. Little on their way to an orphanage to pick out a kid for no explored reason. Won over by the home's least likely resident -- a talking mouse named Stuart with a miniature wardrobe and a pithy personality -- they take him home, where his new brother George (Jonathan Lipnicki from "Jerry Maguire") gives him the cold shoulder and the family cat (voiced obnoxiously by Nathan Lane) tries to eat him.
