The movie legend died last year (14) after suffering a stroke, and a number of luxury goods from her nine-room home in the heart of New York City have been sold off.

A black granite games table belonging to Bacall's actor ex-husband Humphrey Bogart sold for $26,300 (£16,400), almost nine times the estimated value, at the opening day of the auction on Tuesday (31Mar15).

A spokesperson for Bonhams auction house, which staged the sale, revealed that a hand-coloured etching by ornithologist John James Audubon sold for $173,000 (£108,000), which is three times more than it was expected to fetch.

The proceeds of the auction will go to the star's three children.
