How many of us could have predicted we’d still be hearing ‘Let It Go’ on a loop a year later?
‘Frozen’ director Jennifer Lee has apologised to all the parents who have been driven ever so slightly crazy by their little one’s obsession with the ‘Frozen’ soundtrack. Just over a year after the film’s release, the popularity of Anna and Elsa's icy story shows no signs of waning, with Frozen merchandise topping many Christmas wish lists.
Will we ever be able to let Frozen go?
When asked about the movie’s triple platinum selling soundtrack, director Jennifer Lee commented, “A year ago, I'd meet people who, when they found out who I was, they'd say, 'Oh, we love the songs! We sing them all the time."

However in the year since the film's phenomenal success the director has been experiencing a slightly different reaction. “Now they're like, 'Yep, we're still listening to those songs,'" she continued. "I've gone from, 'Thank you,' to, ‘Sorry!'". The director made the comments to The Hollywood Reporter magazine, where she was being profiled in their 2014 Women in Entertainment issue.
Thanks to Frozen, 2014 has been a pretty whirlwind year for Lee. Not only did Frozen maker her the first female director of a Walt Disney feature film, she also became the first female director of any feature film that earned more than $1 billion at the box office.
Frozen also bagged the 43 year old an Oscar for best animated feature, while also breaking box office records to become the highest grossing animated film of all time.

But it’s not just Lee whose life has changed thanks to Frozen’s epic success. Idina Menzel, the voice of Princess Elsa, was also propelled into the spotlight this year thanks to Frozen fever.
The 20 year veteran of the Broadway stage was awarded the Breakthrough Artist award over the weekend, at this year’s Billboard Women in Music event. Although a long time coming, the award should sit nicely alongside the Oscar ‘Let it Go’’s took home in February for best original song.
