Bond boss Barbara Broccoli reckons it's time for a "non-white actor" to play 007 after Daniel Craig, according to Antoine Fuqua.
Having kicked the discussions over the next James Bond into the long grass by having Daniel Craig back for one last film, the film’s bosses have reportedly decided that the path will be clear for a black actor to portray 007 next.
After Spectre in 2015, a recurrent theme in the entertainment news sections across the internet was speculation on who’ll take over the role after Craig, who had previously declared that the film would be his last. Idris Elba, star of ‘Luther’, was one of the front-runners, alongside the likes of Tom Hiddleston and Tom Hardy, but Craig last year signed up for one more film and the question became moot once again.
Now, however, a report by the Daily Star indicates that director Antoine Fuqua revealed what happened when he had a recent discussion with Barbara Broccoli, claiming she said “it is time” for a non-white actor to play James Bond.
Idris Elba's ready to sign on for the upcoming 'Fast & Furious' movie, tackling the villain role.
Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) and Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) will be making their 'Fast & Furious' return in a spinoff movie aptly titled 'Hobbs and Shaw', set for release in August 2019, and now some details surrounding exactly who'll be joining them have started to emerge.
Idris Elba's joining the 'Fast & Furious' franchise
Chris Morgan is serving as writer on the film, with David Leitch slipping into the director's chair following his work on 'Atomic Blonde' and the recently-released 'Deadpool 2', which won critical fanfare. It's fair to say that the duo will bring a heap of action to the movie, and their latest reported signing could be right in the midst of it all.

Idris Elba has unveiled his new indie imprint 7Wallace Music.
Twelve years after dropping his debut EP 'Big Man', Idris Elba has finally launched a record label of his very own. And not only that, but he's also announced the label's first ever signing: James BKS. He's a musician and producer who's been making music as long as Idris himself.

He's been producing and composing since around 2006 and while he has been involved with labels before, he's enjoyed a good few years as an independent artist.

If a 'Dark Tower' TV series goes ahead at Amazon, there's no word yet on whether or not Idris Elba would return to his role as The Gunslinger.
Stephen King's 'The Dark Tower' book series is one of the most popular franchises the author has put together. Unfortunately, when the story made the move to the big screen last year, with Idris Elba in the leading role of The Gunslinger, starring opposite Matthew McConaughey's Villainous Man in Black, it flopped in the box office and was panned by critics and wider viewing audiences alike.

What's really interesting for those who love the novels however, is the fact that a television series was being worked on before the film was released. Currently in development behind-the-scenes at Amazon, there hasn't been much news as to whether or not the show would indeed go ahead, or if it had been shelved for the foreseeable future.

He's been very busy with his filmmaking ventures recently.
With Disney making endless live action adaptations of animated classics, it seems 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame' could be the next to return to our screens; though this will be rebooted for Netflix with none other than Idris Elba at the helm. Few further details have yet been revealed.

The 45-year-old is also set to star in and produce the forthcoming retelling of the 1831 Victor Hugo novel, though we personally can't see him playing the bell-tower dwelling outcast Quasimodo. It won't be a direct live action translation, however; this is thought to be set in the present day according to reports.

Meghan Markle's engagement to Prince Harry means she can become a role model for all women, Elba believes.
The 45 year old star of ‘Luther’ and ‘The Wire’ was speaking before a Buckingham Palace dinner to honour the work of the Prince’s Trust. He was asked about the importance of black and mixed race role models, and whether Ms Markle could make a difference through her engagement to the youngest prince.
“Meghan Markle, as a person, regardless of her colour, is a role model,” Elba said in comments reported by The Independent on Friday (December 15th).

The most riotously enjoyable Marvel movie yet, this action epic benefits hugely from the decision to let wacky New Zealand filmmaker Taika Waititi loose with the characters. In many ways, this film has the same comical sensibilities as his classics What We Do in the Shadows and Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Except on a much larger scale with massive special effects. Yet even with all this action, there's not a moment of actual suspense, which is a growing problem in a movie universe in which the characters need to survive unscathed.
Ragnarok is a prophecy about the end of time, specifically the death of King Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and the destruction of Asgard. And it has just been triggered, stopping Odin's sons Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) in their tracks with the news that they have an older sister, Hela (Cate Blanchett), the self-proclaimed goddess of death. As she brutally asserts her claim to the throne, the brothers find themselves dumped on the planet Sakaar. Loki mischievously worms his way into the favour of the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum), who sends Thor into the coliseum to fight the champion, namely his old friend Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). As Thor convinces Hulk's alter-ego David Banner to return with him to Asgard to stop Hela, he also needs Asgard's last Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), a tetchy warrior who is reluctant to work with him.

The actor says he's a big fan of musicals.
Many people know Idris Elba as an action star. He's brought gritty detective drama 'Luther' to fans across the globe, starred as The Gunslinger in the film adaptation of Stephen King's novel series 'The Dark Tower' and is even considered one of the frontrunners to take on the role of James Bond, when Daniel Craig finally kicks the film franchise to the curb.
Idris Elba was seen a little worse for wear earlier this year, but soldiered on in true fashion
So, it may be a little surprising for some to hear that Elba was interested in picking up one of the leading roles in the recent Disney live-adaptation of classic film, 'Beauty and the Beast'. Elba says he wanted to tackle the role of the villainous Gaston, admitting he's a huge fan of musicals in the process.
