Britney Spears Selena Gomez Mary J Blige Imagine Dragons

If anything's going to move you to tears today, it will most likely be this new song from Interscope Records: 'Hands', a tribute to the victims of the 2016 Orlando nightclub shooting, featuring Britney Spears, Selena Gomez, Mary J. Blige, Imagine Dragons and many others.

Seeing a bunch of artists come together like this, whether you like modern pop music or not, is a touching thing to behold. And when it's to support an entire community, not just the victims themselves, there's something even more powerful about it. Because it wasn't just the people killed and injured and their friends and families that were affected by the tragedy that took place at Pulse nightclub on June 12 2016, it was the entire LGBT community who felt a blow unlike anything they've ever experienced before.

Seth Meyers Leaves SNL For Greener Pastures With Emotional Weekend Update

Seth Meyers Amy Poehler Bill Hader Melissa McCarthy Imagine Dragons

This week’s Saturday Night Live was hosted by Melissa McCarthy and featured some great sketches with her, but it was really Seth Meyers who stole the show. And rightfully so – it was Meyers’ last episode at the Weekend Update desk. Joined by former SNL co-stars Bill Hader (as Stefon) and Amy Poehler, Meyers was given a proper Weekend Update sendoff.

Seth Meyers, Golden Globes After Party
Seth Meyers said "so long" to SNL and moved on to greener pastures (and a premium time slot.)

Meyers is moving on to the next step of his career – replacing Jimmy Fallon as the host of Late Night – but that doesn’t mean there weren’t some emotional goodbyes. "This is the job I always wanted, and I had the best time," Meyers said in lieu of a witty closing line at the end of his last Weekend Update.

The Foo Fighters are set to perform on February 1st, the day before the game, along with the Zac Brown Band. While the pairing may seem a little odd, the bands are actually friends. Grammy Awards 2014 Nominations: Who Are The Notable Absentees On The Nominee's List

Arcade Fire Arctic Monkeys Jay Z Kendrick Lamar James Blake Earl Sweatshirt Haim Imagine Dragons Pink Daft Punk

The 2014 Grammy Awards will take place in January 2014, with the full list of nominees being revealed over the weekend. Jay-Z was the most capped nominee, with nine nods in total, whilst Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Kendrick Lamar and Daft Punk were also among the list of potential winners, but there were a number of artists who were nowhere to be seen on the list of nominations.

Arcade Fire
After their shock win in 2011, Arcade Fire have been ignored this time

Despite their last album, The Suburbs, being a runaway success at the 2011 Grammy Awards, Arcade Fire are nowhere to be seen on next year's list. Their fourth album, Reflektor, was met with almost universal praise and some critics noted that it was an improvement form their latest release, but it seems as though the Grammy committee weren't as impressed as everyone else. The Canadian band don't even appear in the Best Alternative categories, however it is pleasing to see Tame Impala and Vampire Weekend among the nominees in this category, especially considering VW released one of the albums of the year with Modern Vampires of the City.

Jay Z And Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Lead The Grammy Nominations, But There's Little Love For Justin Timberlake And Kanye West

The nominees for the 2014 Grammy Awards have been announced and after a year when hip-hop comebacks and newcomers have dominated the music scene, it is rap that leads the way in the Grammy nominations for next year. Jay-Z leads the nominations with nine nods in total, followed closely by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Kendrick Lamar, both of which have seven nominations each.

Jay-Z and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are among the most celebrated artists this year

It isn't just hip-hop being honoured at the awards show, as the two most coveted categories: Record of the Year and Album of the Year, only have two rap representatives in them (three if you count T.I.'s verse on 'Blurred Lines,' which is up for Record of the Year), with Good Kid, M.A.A.D City by Kendrick and The Heist by Macklemore both up for Album of the Year. Daft Punk are up for both categories, with 'Get Lucky' and their album Random Access Memories earning recognition from the Grammy committee. The Blessed Unrest by Sara Bareilles and Red by Taylor Swift make up the rest of the album list and 'Blurred Lines,' 'Locked Out of Heaven' by Bruno Mars, 'Royals' by Lorde and 'Radioactive' by Imagine Dragons completing the Record of the Year category.

Imagine Dragons - Night Visions Album Review

Imagine Dragons caught the attention of Interscope Records in November 2011 after releasing a series of EPs. Since then, the rock band have worked with music producers Alex Da Kid and Brandon Darner (The Envy Corps) for the release of 'Night Visions' (Deluxe Edition) mastered by Grammy nominated Joe LaPorta.

Imagine Dragons - Night Visions Album Review

'Night Visions' opens with 'Radioactive', an appropriate name for a song that has received such active airplay and contains such explosive dubstep beats. The subdued acoustic guitar and choir-style vocals contrast the volatile bass line and indie rock vocals of Dan Reynolds who utilises lyrical imagery to create scenes of desolation and wasteland: 'I'm waking up to ash and dust/

I wipe my brow and I sweat my rust/ This is it, the apocalypse'.  The work of hip hop producer Alex Da Kid enhances the track, immersing the listener in the revolutionary themes and large beats that give the Dragons the wings they need to reach greater heights. The producer's work is continually distinguishable throughout the album, particularly on tracks such as 'Bleeding Out', 'My Fault' and 'Round and Round'.

Music Midtown 2012 Logo

It looks like Atlanta's Music Midtown festival is on its way back up as 2013 brings us the biggest line-up since its return from a six year hiatus.

We are back to where we started with Midtown, which takes place on September 10th - 21st at Piedmont Park, as we see a 2 day, 2 stage event just like its debut in 1994. We've still got a long way to go before it's back at its peak with 3 days and 6 stages, but the line-up hasn't far off doubled from last year and another stage has been added too. The excitement when it was announced that Midtown was making its return in 2011 is hard to beat, but we reckon this year's line-up could reel in an even more impressive overall ticket sale.

Made In America Festival 2013

The Budweiser Made in America Festival 2013 was jampacked with highlights from some of the most iconic artists of the age, as well as some of the best up-and-coming stars and the hidden talent you'd be a fool to have missed.

Taking place over August 31st and September 1st in Philadelphia, the Saturday kicked things off with some impressive acts. Feisty California sisters Haim performed early on in the afternoon with a thoroughly entertaining set, in terms of both music and audience interaction, on the Liberty Stage where other must-see artists such as Deadmau5, 2 Chainz and triple BRIT winning Emeli Sande also thrilled the crowd. The Freedom Stage saw the likes of Rudimental further establish their place in the hearts of a large proportion of festival goers, while the Skate Park Stage saw much smaller bands such as Ohio group Cloud Nothings and New Jersey D&B duo Brick & Mortar get the ultimate chance to showcase their talents. The main Rocky Stage was, of course, the real crowd bringer, with Beyonce headlining and Phoenix and Imagine Dragons delivering the uttermost electrifying rock shows of the night.

Beyoncé has graced the stage of Made In America in Philadelphia to headline a second day of celebrations at the second annual festival. She was the Saturday headline act and performed for 90 minutes in an energetic set that left the 50,000 strong crowd in awe of the mother-of-one, blasting through hits such as 'Crazy In Love,' 'Halo,' and 'Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It).'

Striding out on to the MIA stage, Bey immediately put her mark on the festivities, branding the event as her own. "Philly, welcome to Made in America. You are now at the Mrs. Carter Show," she shouted, yelling "Show me how loud you can be" to the compliant and adoring crowd.

Albums of the week... Following 2011's massively successful collaborative album with Jay-Z 'Watch The Throne', Kanye West makes a return with a new solo effort entitled 'Yeezus'. He proves yet again that he is one serious hip-hop artist as he introduces a brand new edge to his sound that has not failed to engage his devoted fans with a number one spot on six charts including the US, the UK and Canada. As Joe Wilde summarises, 'This may be his best album to date and is probably his most discussed one too, but one thing it definitely is, is a Kanye West album and no-one can do anything quite like what he can do.' Read the Yeezus album review here

Another album that's gaining some serious attention is everyone's favourite Icelandic rock band Sigur Ros, whose seventh album 'Kveikur' has not left any disappointment in the wake of its highly anticipated release. Their sound remains familiarly ambient as on 2012 offering 'Valtari', though has definitely become noisier and a little darker. Our reviewer Jim Pusey had only good things to say, revealing, 'Despite all the darkness to be found here, Sigur Ros have managed to create one of their most compelling albums to date by embracing that darkness and quite literally shining a light on it.' Read the review of Kveikur here
