ABC have just ordered nine more episodes of freshman drama ‘Forever’, giving the series a full fall season run.

Ioan Gruffudd'Forever' stars Ioan Gruffudd

The drama stars Ioan Gruffudd as Dr. Henry Morgan, an over 200 year old immortal who is now working as a medical examiner. Morgan studies the deaths of his victims in order to try and work out the mystery to his own immortality.

The series also stars ‘Law and Order’s’ Alana De La Garza and Emmy award winning veteran Judd Hirsch.

While ABC might have been impressed enough with the drama to place a full season ordering, ratings haven't been high for the series. Entertainment Weekly reports that the show’s most recent episode had ‘a very low 1.2 rating among adults 18-49 and 4.9 million viewers in the next-day numbers’. However it also notes that the series benefits strongly from DVR, with the season averaging 7.6 million viewers and a 1.9 rating thanks to playback.

But while ‘Forevers’ place in the Tuesday night schedule is safe (for now), things aren't so good for fellow freshman series ‘Selfie’. The network has effectively pulled the plug on the Karen Gillian series, not ordering anymore episodes but allowing it to finish out its initial run of 13 episodes.
