The incident happened in a parking lot outside the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel Township, New Jersey just after 11pm local time. Police launched a search for a suspect who fled into nearby woodland.

The two victims were airlifted by helicopter to a hospital for treatment where they were reported to be in a critical condition.

In a post on Twitter.com, a representative from the New Jersey State Police writes, "Shooting PNC Arts Center 2 victims, taken to Jersey Shore Hospital. Both Critical cond (condition). Search for lone shooter ongoing in wooded area."

No arrests had been made as WENN went to press.
