Jack White Plays First Ever Vinyl In Space

Jack White White Stripes

Jack White and his record label Third Man Records have made history by playing the first ever record in space. To celebrate the label’s seventh anniversary, they launched a custom “space-proof” turntable, just outside of Marsing, Idaho which was attached to a high-altitude balloon and spinning Carl Sagan's 'A Glorious Dawn’.

Jack WhiteJack White has helped launch the first ever record in space.

Named the Icarus Craft, the turntable was launched on July 2nd, with the craft reaching a peak altitude of 94,413 feet at 1:21:20 flight time, before the balloon burst and it began its descent back to earth.

Jack White Calls For Gender Equality

Jack White White Stripes Dolly Parton

Jack White gave a speech on gender equality in Nashville on Wednesday (13.07.16).

The 41-year-old rocker - who fronted The White Stripes before calling time on the band in 2011 - was appointed to the Nashville Gender Equality Council and took to the stage at a press conference for the launch of a study into the issue in the city.

Jack - who is from Detroit - said: ''In my life in the arts, I have always considered it unfair when producing a record, for example, that a drummer would be paid less than a singer, simply because that singer had an agent or representative. They are both creating regardless of their instrument or even their experience. They should be paid the same. Now wouldn't it be just as ridiculous to pay two fiddle players a different wage because one of them is male and one is female? I think so. It is embarrassing that in 2016 there are any differences in benefits or wages between genders in our society. Gender equity is something that should've been solved a century ago worldwide, and it is sad that we even need to address it. If the person does the work, the benefits of doing that work, should be equal among all human beings.''

Jack White Delivers An Eccentric New Song, 'That Black Bat Licorice' [Video]

Jack White

Jack White draws our attention to his manic new single 'That Black Bat Licorice', from his second solo album 'Lazaretto'; a US number one hit album upon release in June 2014. Alongside that, he unleashed a quirky interactive video.

Jack White releases epic new song 'That Black Bat Licorice'

For his first single of the year, Jack White has taken us on a not entirely uncharacteristic journey of surrealism. It's the third single from 'Lazaretto' which, let's face it, hasn't won all its acclaim for being an album of generic rock. This is about as alternative as it gets and with 'That Black Bat Licorice', he takes it to extremes.

Jack White Slams Media Over Leaked Tour Rider, Especially Guacamole Recipe Debacle

Jack White isn't impressed with the media's coverage of his leaked contract to perform at the University of Oklahoma, as well as his list of stipulations, known as a rider, as the 39-year-old has been criticised for "diva-ish" dressing room demands.

The talented musician has now released a very angry open letter targeting these reports, especially NPR for publishing an article about the request on his rider that demanded "one bowl of fresh homemade guacamole" with a guacamole recipe attached to it.

White had played a concert at the university on February the 2nd and reportedly called out the student newspaper for leaking his demands.

Jack White's 'Lazaretto' Was The Biggest Selling Record In 'Year Of The Vinyl 2014'

Jack White

If we can thank hipsters for anything then maybe it’s the resurgence of vinyl, which had a record sales year in 2014, surpassing nine million units for the first time in over 20 years. Leading music lovers all the way to the record store was Jack White, whose album Lazaretto became the highest selling vinyl of the year.

Sadly, and despite the rumours, it doesn't look like Prince will be getting funky at Glasto but the appearance of Elbow, Arcade Fire, Kasabian, The Black Keys, and Jack White should make up for the Purple One's absence.

5 Celeb Couples We Didn't Want To See Split

A break up is rarely an easy time for a couple but ever get that feeling that some couples, i.e. NOT Rihanna and Chris Brown, were so well-matched that it was hard to imagine them not being an item? Yup, us too, so we restrained ourselves with a list of the top five celebrity couples we reckon never should have parted.

1) Zooey Deschanel & Ben Gibbard

What is love now that we are no longer in a world where the Zooey Deschanels can't make a happy marriage with the Deathcab for Cutie frontmen? Woe is us indeed. Him: the sultry, thoughtful indie singer and guitarist who is responsible for such odes to eternal love as 'I'll Follow You Into The Dark.' Her: the cute, funny and (dare we say it?) quirky actress who, with one flick of her indie girl bangs in 500 Days of Summer, launched an odyssey of shy, introverted teenage dreams against a backdrop of The Smiths songs.

Various Artists - The Great Gatsby OST Album Review

The Great Gatsby movie may not have received universal praise and critical acclaim since its silver screen release but that doesn't mean you should write off or disregard its soundtrack. What do critics know anyway? There seems to have been far too much analysis of the film's sub-text and possible parallels with the global economy rather than old fashioned cinematic enjoyment. Is the world more greedy now, more star struck, more in need of fame and fortune? Have we all become more self-absorbed, self-obsessed, materialistic and vacuous or is it just that, nowadays, it's more in plain sight, easier to identify and more readily hyped and publicised. (The film adaptation is, after all, taken from the F. Scott Fitzgerald book published nearly ninety years ago.)

The Great Gatsby OST Album Review

Setting aside any need to put the film on the psychiatrist's chair (to see whether Fitzgerald's cautionary tale of excess rings true) and taking the film and its soundtrack merely on musical merit alone, I think it safe to say that without doubt it is a triumph. Any suggestion that it is 'style over substance' is missing the whole point. The Jazz Age was all about style, all about how opulent and how lavish you could possibly be. Yes, it may have been a little vulgar but it was all about extravagance and living the dream, even if the dream was ultimately a lie.

The soundtrack of The Great Gatsby captures the very essence of the post war age, an age of optimism and high spirits where the grim realities of the not too distant past could be suspended. You can lose yourself in the cocktails, flapper dresses, pearls and spats, cigarette holders and dinner jackets quite easily. The allure of the decadent lifestyle being flaunted by the charming and charismatic Jay Gatsby has an intoxicating appeal that is difficult to resist. Both Baz Luhrmann, the film's director, and executive music producer Jay Z have done a meticulous job in making that come to life, brilliantly mixing a twenties thread through a contemporary score.

Jack White Bails Out Detroit's Masonic Temple

Jack White

Detroit venue The Masonic Temple was helped out of a tax pickle recently when an anonymous donor paid off its entire $142,000 balance in tax, saving it from closure. So who was that mystery man? Only Detroit-native himself Mr Jack White! What a good guy.

That’s right, the co-founder of The White Stripes put his hand in his pocket when the venue found itself up against the wall financially, bailing it out and helping it to continue, according to the Detroit Free Press.“Jack’s donation could not have come at a better time and we are eternally grateful to him for it,” said Detroit Masonic Temple Association President Roger Sobran. “Jack’s magnanimous generosity and unflinching loyalty to this historic building and his Detroit roots is appreciated beyond words.”

There are a couple of reasons why White would be so keen to keep the Masonic Temple going; his mother was an usher there for a time, while the White Stripes played their first public gig at the Gold Dollar, just half a block down from the building. Four years later and they played two nights back to back at the Masonic Temple itself – something significant, according to White’s nephew Ben Blackwell. “What really puts it all in context were those first two White Stripes performances in April 2003 — two consecutive nights, one in the small room, the other in the big room,” he said. “From the loading docks you could see the Gold Dollar. It took years, four albums and how ever many of tour miles to go that very significant half a block.” The temple’s Cathedral Theater is to be renamed the Jack White Theater in honor of his gift. What a good egg.

Jay Z's "$100 Bill" Is The Perfect Track To Capture The Empty Splendor Of The Jazz Age

Jay Z Florence and the Machine Jack White Lana Del Rey Beyonce Knowles

Maybe Jay Z isn’t the typical name you’d expect to see on the soundtrack of a film set in the 20s, but after the initial surprise, it turns out that the mogul and The Great Gatsby have more in common than you’d think. Both Jay’s (Z and Gatsby) are cool, aloof, sharply dressed types. Both are rich and both swim in luxury and glamour. And ok, maybe that’s where the similarities end, but you can see how Mr Carter is actually a fitting choice to work on the modernized soundtrack for the upcoming film. The rapper released “$100 Bill” today, to go “hand in hand” as he put it with the movie adaptation. But it’s not your typical soundtrack, oh no – after all, when have you heard of Jay Z doing anything typical? As the man himself put it for Blacktree.tv:

"It's not the typical soundtrack, or a standalone piece. The songs are pretty much in the film, so it goes hand in hand with each other. It had to fit pretty snug, it wasn't an afterthought."

Now he’s got us all eager and excited to hear it (well, and see the film obviously), especially considering that the full soundtrack will feature songs by Florence and the Machine, Lana Del Rey, Jack White and even Beyoncé. It sounds like an eclectic mix of styles, all united under the decadent splendor of the jazz age. Who could resist! For a teaser of things to come, you can check out “$100 Bill” here, or watch the "Gatsby" trailer below.

55th Grammys Preview: 'Music's Biggest Night' Wont Fail To Impress

Annually, the Grammys is one of the biggest events for music across America and in Europe. In fact, it has dubbed itself 'music's biggest night'. Celebrating the best in pop, hiphop, soul, R&B and much of what comes in between, it never fails to be a veritable who's who from the Spotify playlists of the masses. And this year will be no different. Not only are the nominees ones to look out for, absences are worthy of note, as are this year's presenters and some very special performances.

As Yahoo report, this year's presenters include Grammy royalty, Prince, Beyonce, and Jennifer Lopez, all of whom have been nominated or won Grammys before.

In terms of performances to look forward to, this year we have some unusual and largely unexpected pair ups. Elton John and Ed Sheeran will take to the stage together. An unusual pairing, they're both Brits with unusual song writing talent. While John is a true showman and is well known for his intereSting outfits and outrageous glasses, Sheeran is distinctly more low key. We're not sure how this is going to work, but we're guessing it'll be great. Bruno Mars, Sting and Rihanna will all also perform together, as will Alicia Keys and Maroon 5, and Dierks Bentley and Miranda Lambert.

Grammy's Cover-Up Dress Code: Surely Rihanna Was Intended Recipient?

Rihanna Jack White Maroon 5 Wiz Khalifa Taylor Swift Grammy Awards

Is it unfair to assume that Rihanna was the most likely target of the Grammys’ dress code warning email? We’re looking down the list of performers and you know what? We don’t think this email was directed at Jack White. We don’t think it was directed at Alicia Keys. And we really don’t think it was directed at Maroon 5. Deadline.com got hold of the missive, which was emailed out to the ceremony’s live performers and anyone who may appear on camera, instructing them to “be sure that buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered.” And reminding them that “thong type costumes are problematic.” And there was some very specific rules about which parts of your breasts may and may not be on display (none of it, basically). And don’t even ask about the rules on the visibility of genitalia.

We’re really struggling to picture Taylor Swift rocking up on stage in a “thong type costume.” Mumford & Sons doing some kind of striptease, mid-song? We can’t see it. We also can’t picture the Preservation Hall Band exposing their butt cracks (unless they drop something, maybe and need to bend down to fetch it). At a push, we can imagine hip-hop star Wiz Khalifa might have his trousers a little low-slung, risking the exposure of some part of his junk, or his trunk but seriously? There’s only one person this email was aimed at and that’s Rihanna, surely?

The 24 year old has a history of stepping out in risky outfits. Remember the semi-see-through striped dress of 2009? The mid-riff display and leather hot-pants from last year’s Grammys (some definite buttock curvature on display there)? The barely-there strapless bra top and equally-barely-there denim cut offs, complete with fishnets that she opted for in Ottawa in 2011? Yep. We reckon that email was intended for Rihanna. Everyone else can just relax.

Bruno Mars

Albums of Note... It looks as though Bruno Mars has stepped things up a gear on Unorthodox Jukebox. From straight-up pop songs, to disco and funk stylings, and a nod to reggae in there too, Mars very rarely fails to hit the mark with these new tracks. “Unorthodox Jukebox is a rich pick and mix of different and colourful elements. His lyrics sometime fall short, but a likeably mischievous personality shines through nonetheless, and so on the whole this is a real step up even from the songs that broke him so hugely two years ago.”

Adding a fresh slant to the out-dated genre of twee-duets, Adam Green & Binki Shapiro release a self-titled album of brief ditties, which may appear cutesy at first glance but soon reveal their darker side, with lyrics such as “I can't be the first to say you're the worst, surely there's one or two? / I care more if you act as though you like me than if you really do.” Adam Green is probably the better known of the two, from his work as part of Moldy Peaches and of course his solo work, too. Binki Shapiro already has indie cred from her other band, Little Joy. “Like everything the pair have done individually, together they have made a record that's short, sweet, and maturely macabre; a late contender for an album of the year.”

No Armies Needed: Jack White Holds Himself Back And Retracts Lady Gaga Comments

Jack White Lady GaGa

He’s more than happy to beat up on one of the Von Bondies (yeah, we struggle to remember who they were as well), but when it comes to a verbal joust with Lady GaGa, former White Stripes-man Jack White wants no part of it.

It’s worth point out that this great ‘duel’ appears to be entirely one sided, with White making and then retracting comments before Gaga’s probably even registered he’s made them. Why would she? She’s probably too busy fashioning a dress out of a unicorn’s skin right now. Or something. As has been widely reported, White made comments in the latest issue of Esquire magazine about Gaga, accusing the star of being all substance and no meaning, suggesting that her music had no longevity.

Well, he’s not so sure about that anymore, having issued a statement relating to the comments, according to Entertainment Weekly. “I never said anything about her music, or questioned the authenticity of her songs in any way” he simpered, “I was in a conversation about the drawbacks of image for the sake of image, and that it is popular nowadays to not question an image in front of you, but only to label it as “cool” or “weird” quickly and dispose of it.”

Legendary Guitarist Jack White Appears From Obscurity To Tell Modern Day Celebs What's What

Jack White Lady GaGa

As huge fans of Jack White's earlier work with The White Stripes, we maintain that he's deserved of the title legendary when it comes to guitar, and if he's not, then he should be. But instead of thrashing that 87 string guitar like we all know he can, he's been giving his pennys worth on Lady GaGa.

On Gaga, he says, to Esquire: "I don't think she lives it because it's all artifice. It's all image with no meaning behind it. You can't sink your teeth into it. It's a sound bite. It's very of this age, because that's what people want. They want a Twitter line, a jpeg, an MP3." And on Twitter, don't expect White to be joining the social networking site anytime soon. "The goal of modern celebrity is to make yourself into the lowest common denominator," he said. "'Hey, I'm a guy just like you. I like a beer, a football game. Especially in reality television, you'll see people will go so far as to make a fool out of themselves just to prove that."

"Twitter is the most perfect example of modern living," he added. "I think the only people who should have [Twitter accounts] are comedians. Because it's all about one-liners."

Tumbleweed Moment As Jack White Disses Lady Gaga's 'Artifice'

Jack White Lady GaGa Tim Burton

Jack White has denounced Lady GaGa in a recent interview with Esquire magazine. To a resounding chorus of “ER, DUH, YEAH!” Jack opined “I don’t think she lives it because it’s all artifice. It’s all image with no meaning behind it. You can’t sink your teeth into it. It’s a sound bite. It’s very of this age, because that’s what people want. They want a Twitter line, a jpeg, an MP3.” Earth to Jack White! We know! That’s the whole POINT! Geeeeez.

We all know that Jack White has one foot in the past, of course. His music is often redolent of bygone eras, he’s a fierce campaigner for those overgrown vinyl records (even the small ones don’t fit in the CD player! what’s the point!?) and he looks like an extra from a Tim Burton movie. That part’s irrelevant, of course, but then so are Jack’s comments about Lady Gaga. The point is, nobody ever expected Jack White to be a big fan of Lady Gaga. None of us were fantasizing about the former White Stripes front-man singing into a hair brush and dancing along to ‘Alejandro,’ after all. White’s comments may have hit the headlines but frankly we think he’s wasted valuable column inches by stating the freakin’ obvious here.

We’ve been staring at Gaga’s Twitter feed for some kind of shallow, artificial retort but alas, she’s not been forthcoming. She’s probably too busy pretending to be Michael Jackson and moonwalking around her kitchen in all that memorabilia she bought over the weekend…

Now in its 6th year, the Virgin Mobile FreeFest returned to the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD, just outside Baltimore, and sported two starkly contrasting headliners; Jack White and Skrillex. Plus a great variety of other brilliant bands and artists that graced the stage all in the aid of free music and philanthropy.

This year over 50,000 fans flooded the Merriweather Post Pavilion for the exceptional lineup. For Wesley Case, at the Baltimore Sun, it was Jack White's own contrasts within his set that made the White Stripes star and his performance truly shine. Case said "[Jack White] made a loud arrival, violently strumming his guitar in time with the drums... But it was the quieter moments that stood out. He shared a sensual moment with his tambourine player as they both sang into his microphone." He ended his set with Seven Nation Army, perhaps the most iconic of his releases and one that spurs crowds into a unity of hums.

Skrillex And Jack White Lead The Festivities At Virgin Mobile FreeFest

Skrillex Jack White Alabama Shakes ZZ Top Santigold Richard Branson

Skrillex and Jack White were amongst the highlights of Saturday’s Virgin Mobile FreeFest (October 6, 2012). Over 50,000 people crowded into the Merriweather Post Pavilion to enjoy the three stages worth of music, from the likes of Alabama Shakes, ZZ Top and Santigold; an eclectic mix of old and new, sure to keep the punters satisfied. Tickets to the event were free and Virgin boss Richard Branson spoke to the Washington Post backstage, explaining the work that FreeFest does with homeless youths.

Skrillex was clearly a big draw for the event; one punter, Liz Carr, 27, told the Post that she and her friends had a goal for the evening and that was “to not be blacked out by the time Skrillex comes on.” Whether or not she achieved her aims, we may never know. But those that did manage to stay conscious until the US producer played his headline, 90 minute set, were treated to a “bombardment of riotous dubstep songs with sci-fi lasers, flames, smoke and sparks to match.” Jack White’s 50 minute set was deemed too brief by those in attendance, who called him back onstage for an encore, in a rather unusual manner – by “WHOA-OH-OH-ing the guitar riff from ‘Seven Nation Army.’

It was down to Jack White that the festival-goers at FreeFest were treated to a glimpse of ZZ Top, too. They may not be the hippest band on the planet but when you’re playing at the personal request of Jack White, you’ve instantly earned yourself a few extra nods of approval.

Adele To Sing The New James Bond Theme ‘Skyfall’

Adele Jonathan Ross Sir Paul McCartney Duran Duran Madonna Tina Turner Tom Jones Jack White Alicia Keys Daniel Craig

Adele is to join the ranks of the musical elite, having been chosen to sing the theme to the new James Bond movie “Skyfall”.

The song, “Skyfall” which shares its name with the title of the film, has been written by Paul Epworth. Rumours of her involvement with the Bond franchise were put in place when she “hinted she would be working on [a 'special project'] during an interview on Jonathan Ross's chat show on ITV1 in September 2011” (BBC).

The history of the James Bond theme includes only the best and most iconic of musicians and bands, including Sir Paul McCartney, Duran Duran, Madonna, Tina Turner, Tom Jones and most recently a collaboration between Jack White and Alicia Keys.

Jack White Exits Stage After Just 45 Minutes

Jack White White Stripes Green Day Billie Joe Armstrong

The Jack White Blunderbuss gig was brought to an untimely halt last night after White left the stage 45 minutes into the set, reports Reuters.

Critically acclaimed as one of the most accomplished artists of a generation, Jack White can still attract crowds long after the band that made him famous subsided. But he angered those crowds, who lovingly gathered at the New York venue, Radio City Music Hall on Saturday night (September 29th) by walking off stage after just 45 minutes. He thanked the full capacity audience before leaving stage right. Initially, fans chanted their desire for more White guitar plucking, but what was once a playful imploration, turned quickly into anger, as the realisation that he was done spread through the crowd. "Chatter about Jack White's abbreviated show at New York's Radio City Music Hall last night has officially lasted longer than the concert itself," noted Spin.com, the music website. Security at the gig rushed to protect the stage door, as particularly angry punters set about confronting The White Stripes star. As of yet, no explanation has been given to the short-lived set.

In other 'musical icons disappoint loving fans' news, Green Day star Billie Joe Armstrong performed a similar, but more troublesome stunt on stage recently, but he was bemoaning the lack of time on stage, rather than cutting it short. And besides, Billie Joe has recently admitted himself to rehab: a reason, rather than an excuse.

'Bond' Singer Adele To Follow In The Footsteps Of Shirley Bassey

Adele Shirley Bassey Nancy Sinatra Jack White Daniel Craig Sam Mendes Judi Dench Javier Bardem Ralph Fiennes Naomie Harris Ben Whishaw

Adele’s ‘Bond’ theme will see the London songstress follow in the footsteps of singing greats Shirley Bassey and Nancy Sinatra, both of whom are responsible for recording some of the most recognizable 007 tunes in the secret agent’s 50 years in film.

The multiple Grammy award winner had long been rumoured to be handed the prestigious role for Sam Mendes’ forthcoming ‘Skyfall’ – again starring Daniel Craig – and Total Film.com confirmed the speculation this week. Adele’s single, named after the new movie, will be the first release from the star since ‘Turning Tables’ from her much-feted ‘21’ album. Given her phenomenally successful couple of years, Adele will certainly be a popular choice for the job and she boasts the kind of heavyweight soulful voice synonymous with the theme tune. One thing’s for sure: it’s almost certain to be an improvement on the poorly received tune ‘Another Way to Die’ by Jack White and Alicia Keys from 2008’s ‘Quantum of Solace’.

‘Skyfall’ – set to open in the UK on October 26 – stars Daniel Craig, alongside Judi Dench, Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris and Ben Whishaw.

Jack White, Blunderbuss Album Review

Ploughing several shades of 'woman as the devil' imagery, 'Blunderbuss' is, essentially, Jack White 2.0, the artist in hyper-colour, extending several dimensions beyond the Jack White that we have seen before. As White's career has progressed beyond The White Stripes, through The Raconteurs and the Dead Weather; he continues to unravel before our eyes - something he seems to acknowledge himself on the inward-looking 'Hip (Eponymous) Poor Boy' with the line "you'll be watching me, girl / Taking over the world / Let the stripes unfurl."

Shine A Light Review

Weak
Gimme Shelter this is not. The disillusions and stabbings of the 1969 concert have been replaced by the Clinton Foundation's benefit for the Natural Resource Defense Council and snapping camera phones. But Shine a Light is helmed by Martin Scorsese -- the man behind Goodfellas and Raging Bull -- shouldn't it push the boundaries set by Charlotte Zwerin and the Maysles brothers nearly 40 years ago? It should, but Scorsese has always had a cinematic hard-on for the Rolling Stones, and the result is a personal, biased love letter to the Stones signed with love by Marty.

When the Stones take the stage at New York City's Beacon Theater, it's frightening -- their age truly shows on film. As giants on the silver screen, we have a front row seat for an exhibition of frail bodies moving in ways that only young men should move. As Mick Jagger belts out songs of youthful rebellion and sexual frustration, he still does the same androgynous dances of yesteryear. Yet, this off-putting display of aged youth is clearly a place of sentiment for Scorsese, whose camera lingers with love.

Coffee And Cigarettes Review

OK
Coffee and cigarettes. What is it about this magical combination of caffeine and cancer that's so irresistible to millions of café and pub patrons around the world? Despite its title, don't go looking to Jim Jarmusch's Coffee and Cigarettes for the answer. A series of vignettes populated by an all-star cast of actors and musicians, the film has the laid-back attitude of its tobacco-smoking, java-gulping protagonists, each of whom spends his screen time ruminating on a host of arbitrary issues involving class, race, and physics. However, like its central delicacy, Jarmusch's comedy is apt to provide a slight, delectable buzz but little nutritional value.

Jarmusch enlists a diverse cast of indie stars and former colleagues for this modest ensemble, but his uncharacteristically wheezy writing frequently undermines the film's wry humor. Cate Blanchett, in a dual performance, plays an arrogant version of herself as well as her skuzzy, jealous cousin, but the piece's portrait of jealousy and resentment loses steam after you become accustomed to seeing the actress talk to herself. Similarly, The White Stripes' Meg and Jack White provide a brief lesson on inventor Nikola Tesla's Tesla Coil, but save for the creepy, Mao Tse-tung-inspired portrait of Lee Marvin hanging on the wall behind them, the skit is nothing more than an overly long non sequitur. And even a brief appearance by Steve Buscemi can't rescue an insipid bit about two argumentative African-American twins talking racial politics in a Memphis diner.

Jack White Explains The Truth Behind His Relationship With Meg White

Jack White Meg White

Jack and Meg White, better known as The White Stripes, decided to lie about their relationship because they did not think that critics or fans would take them seriously if they knew the truth. The truth being, that instead of the brother/sister band they claimed they were, Jack and Meg White were actually a husband and wife duo.

In 2002, a Detroit, Michigan newspaper discovered and printed the couple's wedding certificate from 1996. Despite this, the Whites insisted that they were, in fact, siblings, although in a recent interview, Jack White suggested why the lie would have been necessary.
