Jackie Chan will star in 'The Expendables 3'.

The action hero has confirmed his involvement in the next chapter of Sylvester Stallone's action franchise and promises fans he will be taking on ''more than just a minor role''.

Speaking at a Kuala Lumpur press conference, he told Cinema Online: ''Sly had invited me to be in '[The] Expendables 2' but I was too busy filming 'CZ12' and couldn't make a commitment to the film.

''But he did extend his invitation to the third movie, which I agreed on the condition that I will be appearing as more than just a minor role with a few scenes.''

The comedy veteran also revealed Sylvester is currently reworking the script into a ''buddy-buddy'' style plot after Jackie suggested he take inspiration from his own resume of more light-hearted action films like 'Rush Hour'.

Jackie will join an all-star cast alongside Sylvester, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis and Nicolas Cage. Filming for 'The Expendables 3' will kick off next year.

Meanwhile, he also revealed he could soon be reunited with his 'Rush Hour' co-star Chris Tucker in yet another buddy comedy called 'Skip Tracer'.

He explained: ''The script is currently viewed by Chris Tucker. Personally, I feel that if he were to pick it up, it would be better if we turned it into 'Rush Hour 4' but I do think that three movies for the franchise is a perfect ending. It would be better to start a new buddy movie with someone new.''

This comes as a surprise since the 58-year-old actor recently confessed the franchise encapsulated everything he ''dislikes most'' about Hollywood blockbusters.
