The 12 Years a Slave star's sibling, who appeared alongside the actress in comedienne Ellen DeGeneres' star-studded selfie at the 2014 Oscars, is following in his sister's footsteps and joining the drama based on author Austin Wright's 1993 novel, Tony and Susan.

Peter's role has yet to be revealed, but the newcomer will only have a small part in the film, according to Deadline.com.

Nocturnal Animals made a splash at the Cannes Film Festival in May (15), when bosses at Focus Features acquired the project for $20 million (£12.5 million), making it one of the biggest deals to come out of the French film festival in recent history.

The movie will be fashion designer/filmmaker Ford's follow-up to his acclaimed 2009 film A Single Man. It already boasts an impressive cast, including Jake Gyllenhaal, Amy Adams, Kim Basinger, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Michael Shannon and Armie Hammer.
