James Arthur Frankie Boyle Matt Lucas

Former X Factor contestant James Arthur has faced a fierce backlash after his diss track aimed at MC Micky Worthless contained the insult "f*****g queer." The criticism directed at Arthur was so strong that the singer relinquished control of his Twitter account to his management team. "#LOVE to my fans but I'm coming off twitter for good. HQ will be doing all my tweets from now on. PEACE!" he wrote.

James Arthur

X-Factor winner James Arthur recently caused controversy after getting himself involved in a feud with rapper Micky Worthless.

James Arthur Eminem Emeli Sande

James Arthur walked away from the 2012 X Factor final as victor almost a year ago and as he looks forward to the future of his career, including the release of his debut, self-titled album, the singer has been contemplating the pressures of fame and how they may affect him. Speaking with the BBC, the singer insisted that he plans to stay 'authentic' and not bow to the pressures facing him.

After finding immediate fame with that most authentic of routes, through the talent show circuit, and then scoring his first number one single with a cover of Shontelle's 'Impossible,' James is determined to make a name for himself and not become another throwaway TV contestant. He spoke recently about how he has made an album that doesn't necessarily fit in with the typical X Factor mould, one that he is "proud" of and one that he has held a heavy presence over in all aspects.

James Arthur Risks Wrath Of Simon Cowell, Says Creativity Was F*cked

James Arthur Simon Cowell

James Arthur has suggested that being forced to work with multiple producers on his self-titled debut album affected the degree of creativity he had on the record. The 25-year-old, who won the ninth series of The X-Factor and scored the second biggest hit in the show's history with 'Impossible' - revealed at a signing at HMV Oxford Street that he couldn't "build up a rapport" with collaborators.

"I worked with several producers in America and several here, and for my next record I certainly won't be doing that," he told Digital Spy. "It's not conducive to being creative; it takes a couple of days to build up a rapport with a producer and then after that you're on to the next one.

Lorde Claims First Number One With 'Royals' - Beating James Arthur To The Top Spot

James Arthur Katy Perry One Republic

Lorde, the 16-year-old singer/songwriter behind the mega-hit 'Royals,' has landed her first number one single with her debut track. The New Zealander beat off competition from X Factor winner James Arthur to claim the top spot, making her the youngest person to reach No. 1 since a then-15-year-old Billie Piper did so in 1998 with her debut single 'Because We Want To.'

Lorde
The singer has topped both the UK and US chart

“I'm so incredibly stoked about being Number 1 this week and very grateful to all the UK fans who bought 'Royals!'” the talented young songstress told the Official Chart Company after it had unveiled her as the nation's official number one single. With a sound well-beyond her years, the talented teen, born Ella Maria Lani Yelich-O'Connor, has now conquered the charts on both sides of the Atlantic, reaching the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Singles Chart earlier this month.

James Arthur On Female Attention: "It Freaks Me Out"

James Arthur The X Factor

One of the by-products of winning the nation's biggest talent show isn't just the money or the chance to produce music on a huge scale, no, it's the droves of fans that will do anything just to touch your jacket.

That's what's happening to James Arthur, the popular Middlesbrough lad who 'came good' in 2012's version of the show. He's been explaining how all the female attention has affected his day-to-day life, saying he's often surrounded by fans when he goes out, and that he often urges them to leave him alone - and go home. "It freaks me out a little bit, yeah, there were loads of them singing 'Impossible' and I was like what? It's freezing cold, go home," he tells ITN. "I wouldn't say mobbed, I can handle myself."

It's not been a bad time for Mr Arthur since leaving The X-Factor a winner. His debut single reached the covered landmark of one million sales, which, according to Martin Talbot from the Official Charts Company, is great news for the starlet. "Hitting the million mark in around a month is a fantastic achievement for James Arthur. x factor winners often score strong first week sales but to push through to the million mark so quickly is truly impressive."

The Man Who Would Be King: James Arthur Shows Off New Tattoo

James Arthur The X Factor Caroline Flack Nicole Scherzinger

James Arthur showed off his latest tattoo while out and about in London this week. The X Factor winner, who had a number one hit with a cover of Shontelle's Impossible, revealed the tattoo while partying with The Xtra Factor host Caroline at London's exclusive Groucho Club, reports Capital FM.

James - a big fan of body art - has King Arthur tattooed on his hand. Speaking about his latest inking, the Middlesbrough singer said, "[It's] King Arthur look! Yeah, well it's more like I was a pauper and now I'm fulfilling my purpose so I feel like a king." He also has the words "love" and "hate" tattooed on his knuckles. Though James seemed to be having a whale of a time with friend Caroline, the night didn't end too successfully. The 24-year-old headed to a local shop to pick up some cigarettes before making his way home, only to find he had forgotten his keys! The singer was eventually helped out by passing police officers, who came to the rescue.

Though Arthur has made no secret of his love for the opposite sex, it seems there's only one woman for him. Tweeting on Thursday (January 24, 2012), he said, "Any time I catch a glimpse of my video for impossible i always really miss @NicoleScherzy best mentor/women I've ever met #LOVE."

Not 'Impossible' After All... James Arthur Hits One Million Sales With X Factor Single

James Arthur

X Factor winner James Arthur has broken the one million sales mark for his single ‘Impossible,’ MTV report. The single went straight to number one when it was released and narrowly missed out on being Christmas number one. The song has become the fastest-selling X Factor winner’s single in the history of the ITV talent show and now James has received the good news that he’s broken the million sales milestone.

The song ‘Impossible’ is a cover of a song by Shontelle and has only been out for around a month, making sales of a million something worth shouting about for the Middlesbrough singer. As the winner of this year’s show, Arthur has also signed a record deal with Simon Cowell’s SyCo label. James released a statement saying “I am thrilled to be part of the Syco family, working with Simon and his team is exactly where I want to be. I can't wait to get into the studio to start work on my record!” It’s a pretty good start to the year for the singer, who’s also landed himself a BRIT award for Best British Song, for ‘Impossible.’

This year’s BRITS nominations have been controversial, not least for the organisers’ decision to include the late Amy Winehouse in the Best British Female Solo Artist category, despite the fact that she passed away in July 2011.

Hillsborough Charity Single: Odds On For Number No.1?

Robbie Williams Shane MacGowan Sir Paul McCartney The Hollies John Bishop James Arthur Gareth Malone

The Justice Collective - featuring stars like Robbie Williams, Shane MacGowan and Paul McCartney – are amongst the favourites to get to number one in the UK this Christmas. Over the last few years. the Christmas Number One has been a little unpredictable, what with a recent campaign to get Rage Against The Machine’s ‘Killing In the Name Of’ to number one thus preventing the usual X Factor winner Number One for the years that had preceded it.

Everyone loves to support a good cause at Christmas and the Justice Collective’s cover of The Hollies’ ‘He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother’ will raise money for to help the families of those killed in the Hillsborough disaster in 1989, with their legal fees. The single was launched at Liverpool’s HMV store, by the former footballer Kenny Dalglish and the comedian John Bishop. According to the Halifax Courier, the Justice Collective currently have best odds of 2/7 to get a Christmas number one, whereas James Arthur – this year’s X Factor winner – has odds of 5/1 in second place. Gareth Malone's Military Wives’ Choir are in third place at 20/1, which would make it their second Christmas number one in a row if they manage to land the top spot.

According to the Belfast Telegraph, there has been a call from the stars of the Justice Collective, as well as Kenny Dalglish, John Bishop and Liverpool Walton MP Steve Rotheram to waive the VAT on the sales of the single. “I wrote to the Chancellor George Osborne before X Factor and we haven't yet had a formal response from him. We tried to get hold of the Treasury yesterday and we are still hopeful that he will waive the VAT on our single. It's the right thing for the Government to do,” said the MP.

Should James Arthur Really Be Fooling Around With Kimberley Garner?

The X Factor Kimberley Garner James Arthur

Simon Cowell will have been sipping his morning coffee today, perusing the newspapers and planning how best to sell the James Arthur product to us all. The single sold nearly 500,000 copies in a week, so the platform for a full-length album has been nicely laid. The only thing that could stop the Middlesbrough singer from achieving an Olly Murs-esque career in pop is distractions.  So the music mogul probably wasn't too happy when he came across photographs of Arthur with Made In Chelsea's Kimberley Garner!

James Arthur and Kimberley GarnerGood For Business? Should Simon Cowell Be Worried About James' Romance?

In case you're not familiar with Kimberley, she's one of the millionaire reality stars on E4's most popular programme. She rose to fame after dating several of the 'Chelsea' stars while still living with her millionaire boyfriend Diego Divero-Volpe. It was all pretty embarrassing stuff, as Kimberley romanced McVities biscuits heir Jamie Laing, 22, diamond mining heir Francis Boulle, 23, and Eton educated broker Spencer Matthews. The problem was, poor old Diego thought he and Kimberley were perfectly happy, until he saw the whole thing unfold on his television set, according to the Daily Mail.

James Arthur may have landed a UK No.1 single with Impossible, but it looks as though he's also bagged Kimberly Garner, a cast-member on E4's Made in Chelsea. Garner has gained a reputation on the show for dating several guys at the same time, though she only had eyes for the x factor winner on Sunday evening (December 16, 2012)

The couple first met at the Amy Winehouse Foundation Ball last month, with Arthur later admitting in an interview that he found the star "hot". After the date, Kimberley took to Twitter, calling the evening a "fairy tale."

Christmas Number One: The Race Is On

James Arthur The X Factor Simon Cowell Sir Paul McCartney Melanie C Rage Against The Machine Matt Cardle Robbie Williams Gary Barlow

With only nine days left until the big day, the race is on to see who will be sitting atop the UK Singles Chart this christmas, with the charity Hillsborough single battling it out with X Factor winner James Arthur for the coveted Christmas No. 1.

Only a few years ago, it was pretty much a given that the festive number one spot would go to The X Factor or Pop Idol/Popstars winner, however the competition has gotten a little more heated in recent years for for a number of reasons, and unlike before there is an air of uncertainty as to who will walk away with this year's number one spot at Christmas.

Girls Aloud were the first to do it back in 2002, when 'Sound in the Underground' took the Yuletide top spot. Then, from Shayne Ward in 2005 to Alexandra Burke in 2008, Simon Cowell's creations had that top spot wrapped up like dad's songs on Christmas Eve. That all changed when a successful Facebook campaign saw Rage Against The Machine's 1991 debut single 'Killing In The Name' take the top spot away from that years' winner, and thus outrage erupted (even though all profits RATM made were donated to charity, as opposed to Simon Cowell's already bulging wallet). Even though Matt Cardle managed to come up trumps the next year with 'When We Collide,' 2011 again saw a change in the wind when the choir ensemble Military Wives with Gareth Malone took the Xmas top spot with their rendition of 'Wherever You Are.' This time round though, SiCo was a little more forgiving.

Shaun Ryder: "I Like James Arthur - But He Should See My Dentist"

Shaun Ryder James Arthur

Shaun Ryder has come out of the closet and admitted that not only is he a fan of the X Factor, but more specifically he is a fan of this season's winner, James Arthur. That said, there's one thing about Arthur that Ryder is not a fan of and that is his dental hygiene.

Speaking to The Sun, the Happy Mondays frontman said that he is partial to the occasional episode of the ITV talent show, and a fan of this season's winner, but recommended that Arthur have a dentist get to work and fix his smile for him or else he may end up in the pile of talent show stars, who burnt out all too soon, before he knows it.

Ryder, who has himself reaped the benefits that a mouth remodelling brings, told the paper, "I've seen quite a bit. I quite like that James Arthur kid. He's good, but he should see my dentist."

James Arthur Rises To Frankie Boyle's Bait In Twitter Spat

Frankie Boyle James Arthur

If James Arthur wins X Factor next weekend, the first thing the show’s producers will need to do is to ensure that he completes a rigorous media training course. And what’s the golden rule of media training? DO NOT rise to Frankie Boyle’s bait! Sadly for Arthur, he has already fallen foul of the acerbic Scotsman’s cutting sense of humour. Always one for the cheap shot, Frankie Boyle posted a message on Twitter insulting him… and not just by erroneously referring to him as “James McArthur.”

That message read “James McArthur is like a cross between a tramp and a duckling ‪#xfactor” and unsurprisingly, James took exception to the comment. He probably wasn’t too enamoured with Boyle later referring to him as looking like “someone put a sheep’s teeth into a baby’s head.” James made the fatal error of responding to Frankie though (and we all know that the best cure for a Boyle is to ignore it and it will go away… not that that has worked with Susan Boyle, mind you). James responded by saying “Poor old man making yet more s**t jokes about Xfactor because he knows that's the only way he can get attention any more #prat.”

Proving that he’s much better at dishing out the insults than he is at taking them, Frankie was quick to reply “I think if I wanted attention I'd sing covers on a talent show, inked up like a schooldesk in a remedial class.” James had the last say in the matter, telling Frankie “Your a sad man and I can't wait to see you coz it's about time someone gave you a reality check.” We’re not sure that it’s technically possible to win an argument with Frankie Boyle; luckily for James, it’s looking likely that he might win X Factor, instead.

X-Factor's Chris Maloney Gets His Gran To Shout At The Bullies

The X Factor Simon Cowell Louis Walsh Jahmene Douglas James Arthur Union J

The X-Factor has been a bit of a joke this yeah, hasn't it? Rylan Clark, with his monstrous lack of talent and baffling level of ignorance managed to go far; too far, while Christopher Maloney has managed to still be in the running despite having little to no potential to sell records. He's got his Gran to have a go at people like us.

"Those comments, they might as well say them to me - they're cutting me in two even worse," she explained, according to The Sun. "It's a tactic, I think. It's one way of swaying the votes. It's like bullying. Nobody else on the show gets those comments." She added: "I'm behind Christopher all the way but it's killing me doing it." Granny Pat got pretty annoyed last week when Christopher gave a good performance but still came in for criticism. She said: "I could cry sometimes. Even when they do say he has sung well they criticise something else, like the dancers behind them last week. He didn't pick the dancers." Poor nan, we know how she feels, but the truth is, even though Maloney is trying his hardest; he's easily the least talented act left in the competition, and that's only because Rylan's gone.

This weekend's X-Factor fun sees Jahmene Douglas, James Arthur, Union J and of course, Granny's boy, Christopher Maloney gunning it out for a place in the final.

Did X Factor’s James Arthur Rip Off YouTube Star Noah? (Videos)

The X Factor James Arthur Gary Barlow Louis Walsh

x factor star James Arthur has been accused of ripping off a YouTube star for his latest performance on the reality show. Arthur, 24, performed a stripped back acoustic version of LMFAO’s Sexy and I Know It on Saturday’s show and won praise from all four judges.

The arrangement of the song was certainly refreshing and Arthur was easily one of the better performers on the night, though his rendition has drawn comparisons to a YouTube singer known as Only1Noah. His version of the track – uploaded five months ago – has since received 13.5 million hits and features the exact same arrangement as Arthur’s track. Noah had added the caption, “Okay guys! So I've actually always wanted to cover this and I finally arranged a version of it that I hope you like!” Disgruntled fans of the YouTube star have taken to the video’s comments section to vent their anger, with one user saying, “James Arthur should be axed from the show for his disgraceful talent of stealing other people's work. Shame on him seriously.”
